Death is a little much. I don't think we've seen the end of the Equalist issues. I feel like the upcoming Spirit crisis is somehow related. Perhaps Spirit Bending too much summons them. Perhaps they're some form of judgement on the Benders or the Technologists.

I just hope we get to see some consequences for the deus ex machina of Aang showing up and getting her powers back. Like maybe she has control of her bending but not of going in or out of the Spirit World, or has to face the reality of not being able to bend there so we can actually see some development in how she feels about bending instead of just "waaaaah I'm nothing without my powers, sob sob, oh look I got them back"

Really I want to see consequences for all the "quick fix" ways they tried to tie up the ends of plots. Like seeing Asami come back rustled, Korra and Mako realizing that their puppy love isn't all its made up to be, Republic City in chaos after the whole Equalist movement collapses, Bolin dealing with his feelings. okay, we had the noodle binge, but even after his feelings were addressed, am I really supposed to believe he's 100% okay with being just friends?

They made sure everything was all fine and dandy at the end of Season One, but there are so many issues left to address from the first season that I worry they'll just drop them in favor of introducing new conflicts in the next season.

Well, at least they said that in season 2 Korra will abuse her Avatar state powers. I'm hoping it'll be better than the first season so much.

She abused her normal powers too in Season 1 so I don't really have high hopes for that part.

I'm thinking it might have far greater consequenses. Also seeing as the avatar state is when the avatar is at their most vulnerable.

I think Korra is going to cause the spirit world problems through her misuse of the avatar state. She's constantly abusing her soul's potentials, but since she is more of a force of nature than a person, it's gonna bodaciously start tearing things apart.

It'll be interesting how korra uses the avatar state compared to aang. I'm betting she won't be as reluctant.

I swear even Kyoshi wasn't as big of an asshole as Korra can be, and Kyoshi was of the mind to kill people to preserve balance.

One time Kyoshi split up an entire continent belonging to the Water Tribe because a guy from the Water Tribe she was dating slighted her or something.

Avatar world history lesson: Kyoshi split off the small peninsula she was living on to stop Chin the Conqueror from adding it to his domain. The peninsula and Ba Sing Se were, at the time, the only parts of the Earth Kingdom he hadn't conquered yet. Chin died in the process, as he was reluctant to move from a crumbling cliff and so fell to his death.

The peasants of the Earth Kingdom, angry about the Earth King's incompetence during the war, revolted. Kyoshi forced the Earth King to listen to the peasant's grievances and also founded the Dai Li to protect Ba Sing Se's cultural heritage.

After all this, the Earth King's power was so weakened it eventually led up the the state seen in The Legend of Aang.

It seems to me Kyoshi's forceful way of handling things doesn't work out to well in the end. I think Korra is awesome, but I'd really like to see her grow up to be a competent and wise avatar.

I think all of the Avatars kinda contribute to future problems for eachother. Aang certainly gave Korra problems with Amon's past, Roku obviously set up Aang's problems, and it's easy to see other cracks that appear as you go further back.

It probably has to do with the fact that while the Avatar is the personification of the world, their lack of humanity leads to them "balancing" the world in terms of the world's interests (and perhaps some personal reasons, like with Roku), rather than what's necessarily right.

Then again, the avatars also don't have the benefit of keeping things regulated under their control after they pass away. The Dai Li obviously became corrupt after Kyoshi's time, so it was beyond her power to fix.

All the same, the Avatar improves with each generation, and I think Aang took the first real step towards fixing issues when he allowed the nations to mix rather than the traditional forced separation.

Hey, wanna hear an Avatar conspiracy theory?
Okay, so in Book 2: Earth, Aang and Katara go into this cave that was made by the first two Earthbenders, and the two Earthbenders put up a cave painting that shows their story. Their respective villages were in a war, which kept the two lovers apart, so they made that tunnel. In that war, bows and arrows were used. So bows and arrows were around when Earthbending was invented. An Avatar needs Earthbending to be the Avatar. There have been around 1000 avatars, and the average lifespan of an Avatar is 100 years. Thus, Earthbending was invented approximately 100000 years ago, assuming that the first Avatar immediately went to learn Earthbending as soon as it was invented. That would also mean that bows and arrows have been used 100000 years ago, and are still being used in the present. In the 100 years that Aang was put in ice and the Avatar was out of commission, the Fire Nation has made jet skis. The Avatar is a force of balance, which keeps the world stagnant and unchanging, and when the Avatar is gone, their is a wealth of advancements and innovation.

He's saying when the avatar is dead, the world advances more quickly.

Which doesn't make any sense, because Aang helped create Republic City, and his 60ish years as avatar helped the world flourish more than they ever had, so that's clearly already a false theory.

also he's got a few things based entirely on assumption, one assumption is that bows and arrows aren't the simplest hunting tools to ever exist, and the other is that the mythos of the caves is correct. Which, for all we know, could have been embellished greatly. Also it depends on the idea that the Avatar actually has a thousand lives already lived, which is still sketchy as to how correct it is.

Another thing to keep in mind is that 100,000 years of slow development (already based on assumption math) isn't that uncommon already. If fact it's rather close to how real life humans have developed. The Avatar timeline seems to have hit the same developmental points as our world in real life, but with a major bump in the road when firebenders basically controlled the highest tech for a hundred years. Afterwards, however, they interred an age of quick technological advancement, very much like our early 1900s.

oh and uh they only entered this age of advancement because of an avatar so hey that came full circle there

tl;dr that theory has all the holes, every hole, in every place, it is just a bag of holes
