Y'know, I think I might just prefer GT over these new movies.

My Hero Academia continues to be awesome. The latest fight has concluded, and it was quite the conclusion. Todoroki won the match, but Midoriya won in the long term by proving he has the chops to be a hero and "saving" Todoroki. I can't wait to see the next chapter.

I've gotten back into Bleach, but only because Aizen is back and is still the King of Trolling. I mean, for Christ's sake, he is kicking booty in a prison cell that's basically a wheelchair. Also, GRIMMJOW FUCK YES. Hopefully Nel and her pals are coming back, too.

So after over a year of not picking up any new animes, one has actually piqued my interest and I'm super in love.

The anime is the ever relevant original Gundam Series. Dear lord I'm surprised about how much I like this show. I figured it wouldn't be something I'd be into, considering it's a dubbed anime from the 70's but I gave it a go because I love Gundam in general and spend way too much cheddar on model kits. I watched Wing as a kid and G Gundam has always been my shit, but honestly I think the original Gundam has climbed up to the top of my list jut from what I've watched so far.

The political intrigue is very well portrayed without being too on the nose about real life counterparts or anything, the characters are all very grounded and realistic, the art style is super attractive to me despite it's age (I'm honestly always a sucker for hand drawn anime) and it has some real charm to it like other older anime series like the original Casshern. It's really interesting to see the roots of more modern real-mecha fiction and the parallels it has to other stuff I enjoy like Ender's Game. It's a show that honestly works for all ages, which is something I feel is sorely lacking these days in both western cartoons and anime. It takes itself seriously in a very mature way yet also has enough action to keep a kid entertained. It's basically Star Trek the anime. I guess I can't say enough sappy good shit bout this anime but there ya go. It really just struck a chord with me.

I think a lot of the reason I'm so impressed is because I expected something akin to the original run of Transformers: a show built around the premise of selling awesome robot toys to kids with some intrigue peppered in. It really does transcend that kinda thing, and has a lot of love put into it. I recommend it to anyone who likes good sci-fi and/or wants to get into Gundam but doesn't know where to start. I would say either this or Gundam Wing would be a great starting point.

I don't really talk too much about anime on here. It's honestly never been a big part of my life. I've always been way more into superhero comics and cartoons and there were very few animes that appealed to me as a kid (besides Gundam I suppose because I breath robots) but while I was in highschool I tried to get into a few (mostly sparked by my love of games like KH.) I was big into Bleach back in the day, and still think it's halfway decent when it's good, but generally I think it gets waaaaaay too samey and bogged down in all it's own crap. My top favorite anime things would be Casshern (original and Sins), Big O, Redline, Akira, Most Gundam stuff, and maybe Dragon Ball???

Im going take this opportunity to rant, sorry this isnt really aimed at you its just sort of convenient timing.

Has anyone noticed that its a thing were people seem to speak like their guilty or something for not liking all anime? I dont see any other medium where people are apologizing all the time for not being a diehard fan. All the anime Vax mentions are great anime, Casshern is one of my favorites i'd love to talk about it with Vax. I dont need to talk about the latest anime from the spring season, id love to see what other anime he's watched because aside from Dragonball all the manga he listed have very stylized art styles and what else he has watched interests me. People dont apologize for not watching CASTLE or NCIS when they dont care for crime fiction, they just talk about the latest Game of Thrones or something else they have in common. Im sorry Vax but your like the third person i've seen apologize for not liking all anime in the last week and just felt like ranting.

Protip: Do check out Ninja Slayer. Sure, it's pretty much Inferno Cop 2: This Time They Somewhat Tried Animating It, but it can still be pretty fun, if a bit cheesy and over the top

MC you don't understand I have already spent an irresponsible amount of cheddar on Gunpla over the years. Thanks for reminding me that I should probably take a picture of my current collection for the forum to see, haha

Also in response to Nara

Not to defeat the purpose of your rant, but I wasn't really feeling guilty with my comment. I was more or less reflecting on how anime has never been a big part of my life, though there are certain ones that I have a great deal of fondness for, and have for a long while. I feel no remorse or that I'm "missing out" on any of the more recent and popular series like Kill La Kill or Attack on Titan or (the not so recent admittedly) Gurren Lagan.

If I feel any guilt in not watching specific series, it would mostly be attributed to not watching them despite recommendations from close friends. There's always so much apparently cool stuff coming out but I'm usually pretty late in getting into em haha. My tastes in all different types of media (Games, shows, movies, music, etc) have always been super varied and in some cases sorta obscure, so I love to share opinions and things I'm excited about! I guess if there was any guilt in my post it would be mostly about not talking about this kinda stuff on here sooner haha.

Apparently the Pokemon anime is turning into "Ash catches every Flying-type in Kalos like a fucking clod".

And it will always annoy me when they have him release Pokemon, especially when it's a fucking Goodra, especially when HE ONLY GOT IT LIKE SIX EPISODES AGO.
