I saw this new manga touted as the next big thing in shounen manga. 7 or so chapters released so far and it's pretty sweet.
Called Boku no Hero Academia. Were you expecting a joke here or something?

They only silhouetted his costume this chapter but I already feel bad for Midoriya.

I loved Kohei's art style and characters when I read Barrage. I'll definitely check this out.

It is beautiful and I need it.

On that note, SURPRISE! This thread has now been tentotally inkvaded by Squid Girl/Ika Musume ~de geso.
I saw season 1 in subs ages ago (like 2010-early 2011 when it came out but before season 2), rewatched season 1 as the English dub on Youtube (because too lazy to find where to watch it for realsies) in CRAPp quality with anti-copyright detection borders that shrunk and compressed the video. Still loved it. (I give assume credit to Tony Oliver because yes.) And finally I've finished season 2 on Crunchyroll, the first 2014 OVA, on the second now, and I think there's a third that for whatever reason they don't have the rights for so I gotta find somewhere else to see it (from what I've read, anyways).

Also, once again an anime has completely blown my feelsbox (multiple times in the show, in the Mini-Ika shorts, and again when I realized I'm almost out of stuff to watch).
I wonder if the manga is still going...

I've decided to go back and read the Alabasta Arc of One Piece. It's pretty good.

I got Netflix again, so I'm probably going to binge watch a bunch of shows. I'm really loving The Devil is a Part Timer! It's so funny, and even though I thought it'd be more on the slice of life side, it's just got a really good story. Sure there are some usual types of anime girls like the tusundre and the lolita with huge tiddies, but they've got a good personality and character. Only on episode 4, and I love it a lot.

So G-Reco is a thing. Maybe it's the subs, but I can't make heads or tails of this show. The mecha designs are delightfully odd and it looks pretty enough to stick with, so I guess I will for now?

Boku no Hero Academia strikes me as a delightful mix of One Punch Man superheroes and the sort of Shonen manga story telling I'm used to fro Naruto. So all in all, very enjoyable.

It seems like the series takes more of the organizational approach of One Punch Man's heroes than anything else. Many of One Punch Man's heroes and villains have an absurdness to them that gives that series its charm.

Boku no Hero Academia (So far at least) has a heavier shonen bent and it shows through the overall functionality and design of many of the heroes' powers. Most of the designs and powers of the main characters are straightforward and about half of the secondary characters (which at this point consist mostly of Midoriya's classmates) have practical powers as well. Mezou, the guy with the tentacles, is the only one so far that has had their out-there powers shown off. I'm interested in when the rest of them will get there time to shine. The guy with the tail looks pretty cool and I'm wondering what he can bring to the table. The raven guy has shadow powers which is always neat. Hopefully in this next chapter since the villains just appeared outta nowhere we'll get to see that.

I think part of it is they keep bringing in new things without explaining what they are. Maybe it'll get explained later. Maybe it won't. I agree on the mech designs, though. Some were a bit odd at first but they've grown on me. I'm definitely going to stick it out. I believe in Tomino. When has he ever let us down?

Don't answer that.

I saw the latests episode of Akame Ga Kill before I read the newest chapter, man they do not do it justice. The manga is leagues better than the show, but I guess it's not really a surprise.
Still, hot daisies Tatsumi really came out of left field with that speed.

Viz had been doing this thing recently where they take several manga from Weekly Shonen Jump and localize it, and let people vote on which one they like the most. And looking at it and the discussions about it, I realize that so much manga ends up canceled due to unpopularity or lack of quality and never even (legally) reaches other countries. I feel stupid that I've never seen Shueisha like a normal entertainment company, one that has to manage their properties and prune off the projects that aren't working out.

I'm wondering if Boku no Hero Academia is gonna come over soon without that voting once it has a few more chapters under its belt? That series is blowing it up as of late.

I absolutely love the designs in Reconguista in G, but would it hurt the story to make more sense? Also, can any of the female characters be more.. competent?
