My thoughts on how the episode is going to run:
It'll probably be a plot point that the cloak/crest thing is a cursed artifact. In case you didn't notice, it also glowed a fair bit when she did magic, and red (especially in the eyes) is the universal sign for evil. Also glowing eyes were never present before, so... obviously she's gotten an upgrade of some kind. It's probably also messed with her head too.
Also, a picture you might not have noticed in the article.
Looks like Zecora might make an amulet thing for Twilight. Or it's a placebo because Twi experiences a severe lapse in self confidence. It's cool they're going back to the original idea for more adventurous episodes with Twilight having a destiny stuff to work towards, and Zecora working as her mentor when Celestia is too far away. Even if those episodes are few and far between.

I don't care if that was a fan service episode, I really enjoyed it.

I was really hoping that the Elements of Harmony would make a comeback when Zecora said to "use the Six".

Anyway, I don't think that Season Three is necessarily better or worse than Season Two, just taking a different approach.

I'm liking it so far

I like the way that Trixie was defeated in this episode. It held true to the main focus of the show, "Friendship is Magic".

Also, Saddle Arabia sounds like a pretty cool place.

That was an incredible episode. When they were making everyone look like Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbowdash I was so surprised! The very end was great too, with Pinkie Pie getting cut off. I'm not sure if I hate Trixie more or less now. Though, I wish the Saddle Arabia horses were shown more. It would've been cool if Twilight went to Luna for help. (She's one of my favorites.) But, I guess that since it takes a train to go to Canterlot Everfree Forest would indeed be better.

Also, where's Derpy? I haven't seen her anywhere!

Very.

Derpy's been in all of the intros for Season 3, and gets some good panel-time in the comic book. Heck, she's the main pony for one of the many different covers that they printed for the first issue. Not sure when she'll appear again in the show, however. Hopefully the whiners didn't startle the artists to the level where she's absent from even simple crowd scenes.
