erm ok amy says she can't have kids which is why they split up yet isn't river song their child?

i know it's something to do with timelines but surely they could just bring the baby back or something? i mean they do have a kid (right?)

It could partially be from the nanomachines slowly erasing her memory, but then again she said she couldn't have anymore after what happened with Melody on Demon's Run, so maybe she can't stand the thought of losing another child( technically, they never lost her, but they didn't really get a chance to raise her, so biologically she,s theirs, but Kovarian and the Silence brought her up ).

I was under the impression that it was a more... physical issue, perhaps done purposefully at Demon's Run.

That's another good possibility.

I thought it was pretty obvious that something that they did after River was born, making it impossible for Amy to have kids afterwards. :psyduck:

I would really like to have seen an actual dalek companion. Wouldn't it have been just so charming? D:

Spoiler-ish fanart

I think that's what OA meant, and that art made me laugh a little.

Is it just me or was deleting the entire history of the Doctor from the Dalek hivemind a huge dick move by Moffat?
It was like he said "Fuck all you past writers, I run this shit"

Yeah

Moffat is sort of fucking terrible at being the head writer.

Has the pseudo-Hive Mind of the Daleks ever been mentioned before? Sure it's smart for them to have internet, but just being able to delete the Doctor is serious BS.
Ok, I did laugh at that bit at the end.
And I will admit I wanted a Dalek companion. It would've been awesome.

Well Amy said that whatever they did to her at Demon's run after Melody was born made it impossible for her to have more kids. I guess it was to prevent another River Song

Oh I thought what she meant by that was that she was just terrified of having any more after what happened to her and River.

And yeah Moffat deleting 49 fucking years of Dalek development in under 5 minutes was a fucking terrible idea and I want him to be kicked off head writer so badly you have NO IDEA.

I liked the humanoid daleks, I thought that was pretty neat. Total cop out that they would just forget everything about the Doctor in 2 seconds. How do the Daleks not have some kind of back up to prevent total data loss across the hive mind?

Aside from that one incredibly major blunder the episode was all around great, and a strong start to Series 7.

I was so underwhelmed by Asylum of the Daleks, it's not even funny.

Amy and Rory's relationship problems were fixed way too fast after what was supposedly a long period of dissension between them. Rory saying "I love you more" was a totally passive aggressive dick move.
Even if Amy was physically unable to have kids, why haven't she and Rory discussed adoption if Rory wanted kids that much??
How was Oswin able to make her own voice be heard over the speakers? Why was she locked up in the first place if the whole reason the Daleks captured her was to use her genius?
And if all the Daleks are locked in the time war, WHY THE HELL IS THE DALEK PARLIAMENT OUT AND ABOUT NOW?!

And I share everyone else's sentiments that Moffat making all the Daleks forget the Doctor was also a really dick move.
Also, he STILL doesn't know how to write for female characters.

Oh, and he also failed to even show the audience how the daleks in the asylum were any more insane than the daleks outside the asylum. So points off for him for that too.

I keep thinking of more issues I had with this episode. Like the part where the Doctor carried Amy into the room and Rory said "who killed the Daleks" and the Doctor said "who do you think?"
That whole bit in the trailer was leading the audience to think that AMY actually pulled something cool and impressive to kill the daleks, but NOPE! She just passed out and the Doctor did his thing as per usual.
That was a really big let-down considering I already see Amy as being kind of useless.

Yeah making the Daleks forget was an asshole move. Hopefully he can make up for it in the upcoming eps.

Those were Nanogenes, the same things that caused the Empty Children.

Oh, and, I'm not sure where I heard this, but apparently the events of Season 5, with the universe rebooting to Amy's design, caused all of the RTD era not to happen. Which is apparently why the Daleks are out and about.

I just want Moffat to be fired/demoted already. He had 3 good ideas and was suddenly elevated to the head writer for 2 shows. If the way that the Christmas episode and this episode went are indicative of the 50th anniversary, I'm going to probably stop watching.

I don't see Moffat leaving anytime soon. Most people (including myself) seem to love him.
