Hahaha, oh lawd, the comments on some of the manga sites are just stupid. Delightfully, wonderfully, story-over-their-heads stupid.

It kind of makes sense though, when the Hollow disappeared as soon as the Old Man basically overloaded Ichigo's powers and promised he would never get them back. Even when he started to get them back from the Fullbringer arc forward, there was no sign of the hollow, only a rework of Old Man Zangetsu. He didn't have access to his real zanpakutou, he didn't have access to the Hollow. Which probably didn't bother the Old Man too much, seeing as how the Hollow and the Old Man never seemed to work together, even when they had the same goal (keep Ichigo alive through the next fight), and the Hollow was very argumentative about being "Zangetsu", which he probably just went with because he didn't officially have a name himself, and Ichigo already recognized the name Zangetsu. Also, calling back to the King and His Horse chapter, the Hollow rebelled until Ichigo showed dominance over it the same way that all the blank zanpakutou did. Granted, I'm not saying this has been planned out from the beginning (at the very least, not in this much detail), but he's probably had some vague idea of this in the works since the Hollow side got a defined identity and wasn't just Nega-Ichigo. Like he probably had the whole "Ichigo's mom was a quincy" idea from near the beginning, because Kubo is apparently way into duality, and he just kind of gradually developed the idea with a few pop flyin' coincidences (The Old Man's appearance versus Juha's) helping it along. I'd imagine that he probably didn't realize the story would get to go past the soul society arc until right around the end of it, and then he seemed to be planning for a big end at Aizen's defeat, but whoops he got to keep going. You really can't have that massive of a story be concretely planned when you don't know when the story is going to end, but that doesn't mean that you can't have several ideas that could play out later.

I have to admit I'm moderately pop flyin' with the directions Naruto and Bleach have been taking the last few weeks. The whole thing with Zangetsu seems more than a bit random at the moment, but it's unexpected and it could be interesting to see where Kubo goes with it. What's more interesting - though possibly disappointing - is the whole direction Kishimoto's been taking with Sasuke lately. It's probably safe to say that everyone pretty well expected a deathmatch between the two main characters. Have to give him props for going the route nobody saw coming, hopefully it doesn't make for a weaker ending.

My issue with Naruto is less Sasuke's twist, which I saw coming as soon as his fight with Itachi ended, and more with the direction the final battle is taking with Madara brought back from the dead and raising a godlike being.

No ninja is a god in this series. This has been shown many, many, many times. There's always a weakness, always a distraction that lets a mundane method end them, they're never just overpowered and outgunned. That's what's happening with Madara. They made him so godly, so powerful, so untouchable that for anyone to stand a chance it means Orochimaru has to come back and resurrect the four past Hokage, Sasuke has to return with his powered-up Sharingan, and Naruto has to share his powerup with everyone on the battlefield before Madara will even get off his booty. Meanwhile, the godlike being is making lots of little spawn so everyone can have something to slap around before the actual final battle.

There's no strategy here, no real plan, just bullrush the enemy and win through plot.

Watamote and TWGOK S3 are my top priorities. I'm sure a lot of people will watch Danganranpa, but I'm still waiting for the PSP translation of that. I'll watch Free! just because it's that fucking swimming anime. Love Lab is made by the same people as Working! so I might like that. Stella Jogakuin should be good, can't go wrong with moe military girls. Not sure what else to pick up.

The Gainax survival game thing has a really nice promo image and the girl looks like yuno so I'll watch that
