Well, while I'm not hugely fond of Orihime's character, in her defense, her abilities are intended to be almost purely, well, defense. She rejects things that have already happened, or are happening. Her abilities don't really allow her to be proactive/aggressive, so she's rendered entirely onto the reactive/defensive side of events. Plus, I believe I remember it being implied that while she basically wills something to be undone, since she's still technically new to the power (compared to the shinigami and their own), she's essentially still growing at a logical pace. She just seems to fall flat because Ichigo's entire character theme is his adaptability and extremely fast growth. She only got kidnapped once.
Although I do think it's stupid that she didn't think her friends would come to rescue her. I mean honestly, woman. He's the one you say goodbye to, you claim to have utmost faith in him, and then you just think he'll sit idly by while one of his friends appears to be in danger? That was stupid.
Also, DND, I have to agree with you, when I first saw the anime on adult swim several years back (Pre-Soul Society Arc), Sado was my favorite character. I was rather disappointed how he ended up getting left by the wayside as far as development and involvement go. I thought that he would have a ton of fangirls toward the beginning, so I expected Kubo to nod to that. But I think what probably happened is that he started to come up with a cool idea for Chad, and then just couldn't really figure out where to go from there with him. So Sado just ended up being busy off-panel.
Also, looking back, Kamak, I agree. There were individual pieces of the Fullbringer arc that I liked, but for some reason, it just didn't come together well for me. Kind of like a face that has pleasant individual features, but something just doesn't look right when you look at the whole face. As for the Aizen bullshit, you'll recall I mentioned that's about where I left off last time, was in the middle of Deicide. I found it to get rather tiresome toward the end of that story too. But the ending after the fight was still decent.
So yeah. Four days, start to finish, and I'm finally current. Just in time for a hiatus.
