Star Wars is just plain bad.
Now I KNOW you're trolling. Or would you care to state an argument some time today?

It's science fiction without science. Yay magic in outer space. Yay plot which is roughly equivalent to your average soap opera.

If there's no science, then you can't call it sci-fi, now can you? You're complaining that it isn't something that YOU claimed it to be.

"This dog sucks, it doesn't even meow!"

Even so, there is science in there, but not every sci-fi feels the need to explain every detail, it's called suspension of disbelief. You accept that the science of their universe works, and they don't have to waste valuable time hand-waving it away. Would you honestly be satisfied if they took the Star Trek approach and just tossed in some techno-babble every other line?

Also, yes, it is magic in space. That's kinda the point of the Force. The Jedi order is bodaciously a RELIGION, as are the Sith. You can honestly replace every use of the word "Force" with "God."

Lastly, soap opera? Maybe the prequels, yeah, but the original trilogy? You have ONE romantic subplot. ONE. The rest is about interstellar war between a rebellion and an oppressive empire, with each side led by an opposing religion.

I might use this from now on. I couldn't help but snirk every time I said it out loud.

I'm okay with this. There's a difference between not enjoying something (you) and saying that it's BAD (you know who you are).

Anyway, who here is a fan of the Bond movies?
Anyone remember Sherriff J.W. Pepper?

So, I want to watch a fuck ton of scary/silly movies on Halloween. I have never seen any of the Friday the 13th series or Halloween series, and have only seen the first Nightmare on Elm Street. Should I just spend my night watching those or are there better choices?

I have digital cable with free Movies OnDemand with the movie channels, and one of them has a ton of Horror movies showing this month, including all Friday the 13th's (except for Jason Goes to Hell), the Scream Trilogy, Prom Nights 1-4 and a bunch of others. Altho the lack of Pumpkinhead is disturbing.

Today I watched From Dusk Till Dawn.
It was glorious. Tomorrow will probably be John Carpenter's Vampires.
Then on my day off on Saturday, it's horror movie marathon whether my mom likes it or not.

Star - The first Friday the 13th has Kevin Bacon in it, and he dies gloriously. I'd watch that. :P
If you want to spend your night watching campy slasher movies, then the Friday the 13th series would be perfect for ya. I know I will be at some point this month!

Kimba the White Lion?

no seriously I liked lion king. Though it's not very high on my list of favorite disney movies. I much preferred Aladdin and Hunchback over it.

Also, did anyone else like Coraline? I thought it was great. (I really need to go to the theater more often. I haven't been there since I saw that back in February.)

THE THING. Just have a puke bucket ready if you're squeamish.

Haha, I was wondering when someone would mention Kimba. The Lion King was the first movie I ever saw in theaters, so it holds a special place in my heart. I still cry when James Earl Jones dies.

I thought Observe and Report was really good, but it takes such crazy turns. See it the same time as Mall Cop and see creepy similarities. Also, don't watch it if you don't want to see a fat naked guy (and his penis. Because people seem to forget that naked and penis go hand in hand. No pun intended).
