Different characters offer different reasons for Aizen's defeat, but I believe Ichigo's. Aizen gave up, he had found no solace in his great power.

I still feel like he has something more to do with the story. I can see him showing up later to blab about the Soul King, or that someone is going to break him free for some purpose.

I'm still getting "he's going to help Soul Society" vibes from him. Not because I really particularly want to see him come back, but because I feel like Tite would go there. Maybe not as an out and out Ally, but maybe an enemy of an enemy thing or because he could give them an edge and in return he has freedom to try his bullshit again.

Whether he goes and backstabs them later in a gambit for the Soul King will be determined.

I'm still convinced that Ichigo is going to become the successor for the Soul King in the very end of the series. Either the Soul King is dying and he'll become the replacement, or something will happen (someone kills the Soul King, gets unlimited power, Ichigo ends up beating that person), and the result will be Ichigo as Soul King.

Aizen "giving up" is a bullshit reason in my opinion considering everything he did goes directly opposite that. There was no foreshadowing to such a thing, it was just dropped like a handwave. I also dislike how Ichigo was next to useless against Aizen's power, let alone Kyoka Suigetsu, then the "three months later" training makes him strong enough to block Aizen's sword with his bare hands. That was author intervention right there.

Honestly, I don't believe the whole "all according to plan" speech Aizen gave. I think it's way more likely that he just said that as a bluff (he can pretty clearly lie on the fly like a champ) and him being such a good tactician regardless that people would just accept it as fact. Also, I could be led to believe the epiphany excuse for why Aizen kinda gave up at the last minute. It's possible that he just didn't achieve the satisfaction he thought he'd get from that much power or came to terms with the fact that there would always be someone more powerful than him OR maybe he realized that all the power in the world couldn't get him real friends since he was such a backstabbing jerk with stupid gel-backed hair. I just think the author didn't do a very good job of expressing his feelings, which is understandable, since it'd probably ruin Aizen for most people and probably feel out of place. You have to keep in mind with Bleach that personality is just as much a factor that determines power as skill. Take story-breaker Orihime for example, who does next to nothing since she's a true pacifist and yet has arguably the best power in the series.

War in the Pocket was pretty good. Really enjoyed the different approach it takes compared to other Gundams.

War in the Pocket is alright. As far as OVAs go I still prefer 0083: Operation Stardust Memory though. Shit was intense.

Animation, yes. Story/characters, pants on head retarded for the entire second half.

Love me some GM Cannon II though.
Ive also always wanted to see some of the 0083 stuff go up against Zeta era suits since on paper alone they outperform anything built for the next 8 years. Shame all the data for the GP series was destroyed per Jamitov Hymen's orders.

A real shame. If the Titans could've mass-produced the RX-78GP03 Gundam the war with the AEUG would've been over before they knew what hit them.
