Genshiken?

Why yes it is. It's probably my favorite animu/manga.

Yesterday I was at an anime and game store with my friends, they ended up picking up one of my old favorites Card Captor Sakura.

I own a clow book and I'm reminded how much I bawled my eyes out on the last episode TWICE

I miss that show

You expected dancing and singing practice? Too bad. It's time for combat and suffering.

As much as I love Sora no Woto, once that flashback episode popped up I really wished there had been more "Cute Girls Blowing Things Up and Contracting PTSD."

Actual combat and suffering, or is it like Sora no Woto where you only get half an episode of Apocalypse Now?

Well, it's only half an episode of combat right now (and it was amazing), but there has been some other stuff, like government forces taking over a space transport on even the slightest possibility that idol candidates could be on board. They were being very hostile about it, too. Some guy just wanted to know what was going on and he got the shit knocked out of him. The show is only up to episode 4, so it's not even half way through and it could very well turn for the worse later on. /a/ is going nuts over death flags and speculation. For example, it's not specified what happens to former members, just that they "retire" and then an understudy is made their successor. And one of the understudies doesn't even want to be an idol. She just wants to fight the government for killing her dad. Also, Kawamori is the creator and chief director on the project and he is known to pull some shit. He said that he drew inspiration for the project from K-ON! and Sailor Neptune, so it could become anything at this point. Like I said though, it's been pretty enjoyable so far.

I've been watching Clannad, just finished the third episode, and I'm realizing I have no idea what I'm watching.

I've watched part of the first season and liked it.
But I suck at backwatching shows so that's as far as I got.

It just so happened that I watched "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" before watching "Fullmetal Alchemist".
Brotherhood just looked like it was telling the story from the start and I never noticed this.
So I guess all of you have seen both of them and you can answer me some questions.
Did I miss much?
Both seem to tell the exact same story, so what is the difference?
Can I enjoy the first series or do I know too much?
And most importened: which is the better one?

Ok i did some research and Brotherhood seems to be a spinoffseries of some kind. but still :psyduck:

FMA:B is based off of the manga. The original anime was loosely based on the manga, having many of the same early stories, but they knew they were going to overtake the source material pretty soon, So they changed stuff to make a new plot flow better (like the Elrics staying with Tucker and Nina for a few months). The plot diverges after Ed and Al meet Greed, and focuses a lot more on Scar and his struggle of what to do.

Also, brotherhood assumes you've seen the first anime a bit and doesn't dwell on familiar plotlines. The first half of the first season was pretty much a recap/retelling of the original story in order to show the viewers what was different in this series, but it also expanded a lot on things that weren't fully explained until much later in the anime (like the door to truth).

If you liked Brotherhood, I suggest you at least give the first series a try. It's got a decently darker tone, a fairly solid story, and some really memorable moments. Many people don't like the first series as much as Brotherhood and the manga because of the divergences (and some of the weird mind screws it throws in), but it's solid and a much different experience than brotherhood.

Personally, I like both series about the same, but the original holds a special place for how some of the side characters were treated.

Especially Martel, Lust, and Sloth.
