Speaking of I just bought the DVD of the series because I hate cheddar, or something. I don't know. Ughhhh is it really gonna take like 6 days to get here? fucks sake.

Trinity Blood is the absolute worst anime I have ever seen.

I caught three episodes of it on Adult Swim, and really liked what I saw, and my mother ended up getting the box set for me as a gift. Turns out those three episodes were the only enjoyable mini-arc in the entire series. Everything else is absolute garbage.

The series jumps into the action, which normally works all right - but there's usually a time where some backstory is given. What's eventually explained - much later - is convoluted, and doesn't get much clearer. The plot just ends up decaying, becoming more senseless as it goes on. Little of what you want to see is ever shown or explained. The ending is an absolute cop-out that had an incredibly disappointing rise in action, no "conclusion" - it solved nothing. I don't remember much about the characterizations - which maybe says more than I really need to.

It's been maybe four or five years since then, and I still hold the strongest negative feelings towards it.


Also @Clyve and @Silver_Wolf, Gurren Lagann was refreshingly original, and has great animation, so it's worth watching. I don't think it warrants the obession its garnered, but what some characters lack in substance they make up for in other ways.

Regarding the jealous part, I thought at some point Hitei had hinted that she actually was jealous of Togame, and that's why she would say Togame was "disgusting" - because she couldn't bring herself to face her own jealousy. (i.e. it's actually there instead of something the viewer has to infer.) I could've sworn something she said heavily implied it (even if she didn't mean to), but I do not have the episodes on-hand so I can't verify. I had thought that her cutting her hair was initially to replace Togame, but upon retrospect, since there is nothing for Hitei to hold against Togame, I suppose her jealousy and dislike for her dissipated into a form of respect?

Actually, now that you say that, I think she did say something to that effect to Emonzaemon during one of their conversations. Also, I thought in general each episode was very well done. Like the episode where the doll is the sword and they keep making comparisons between it and Shichika. He starts as just a sword but slowly becomes more human with each episode, only to be faced with, more or less, what he used to be. Then there's that short scene after he beats it where it looks like it's crying, only for it to start raining, like the doll has become more human too. I love things like that.

I was just about to link this. Looks great. Man I haven't watched the series since it was on Toonami. I should download it again. I remember watching the backstory OVA a year or so ago and it was fantastic.



Oh so it's NOT a major disappointment like that Movie was? I was wating for that movie for so long and it just ending up being "ok". I haven't been that disappointed in a long time.

Ah yeah, it was really good. I especially liked the little parts that were shot with a camera, like the spinning top.

Has anybody else been reading Blue Exorcist? The manga is plenty awesome, probably even more so than the anime.

Well it's not really that bad I guess

The CGI and battles are all pretty good, I'm not usually a fan of CG but they've used it to good effect. However it's not nice hand drawn sakuga like the OVA.

The plot is... stupid as hell, almost so that it's entertaining because of how dumb everything is. Everyone is fucking mental, Mato is an autistic idiot and it's all hilarious. Although there was this one thing that was foreshadowed that actually really impressed me, you might have seen the spoilers though.

I don't know what they were thinking with the character designs, they pale in comparison to the OVA designs

Basically it's kind of fun if you don't take it seriously. I doubt it's something I would marathon if it were a finished series.
