Also, every time he was on the losing side of a battle he got a magical power upgrade, rather than being saved by Shinji, Kenpachi, and Gin or being outright killed until Orihime fixed him.

About the only time he actually pulled a win out of his booty was the Kenpachi fight (reconciling with Zangetsu and unlocking his full Shikai) and the final Ulquiorra fight (Hollow Ichigo stepping up to curbstomp), and both times he was still technically helped by another person to get to that point (especially for the Ulqui fight.

Also, it's kind of stupid to stick with a series just because you followed it so long. I used to be big into Bionicle until the author decided to show off his hard-on for DC, and at that point I realized I wasn't enjoying the series anymore, and it was time to move on. If you don't like Bleach anymore, you're not obligated to follow it.

Also, please don't be a closet fan. I have a few friends that read Bleach "ironically" even though they still like the series and it's annoying to see them pretend to hate the series.

Were this a book I'd have tossed it away by now. But when I can get through a manga chapter in five minutes every week or so then the amount of time invested is much less. I can give five minutes to a lot of things because it's like a nickel in that it's not going to make a difference where I put it.

I also read things I don't like so I can understand exactly how not to do things. Successes only teach so much. You have to look at the burning crashes to get a sense of what went wrong and how to prevent it.

It's investment in the story, despite not particularly enjoying updates, you still continue reading because you want to know how the story ends. I have this with some webcomics.

Then you missed the point of Death Note. There was no afterlife for Light to miss out on as a Death Note user. Just oblivion. Near recognized Light as not being dissimilar to L, even laudable at times. However, he went after Light not because he'd slain L, but for the same reason L went after him in the first place.

Because he wanted to. It wasn't good and evil in Death Note, it was freedom and order.
