This was the short written by some schoolchildren. To be perfectly honest, it shows.

Although I'm sure that TLK will argue that the primary schoolchildren that wrote this easily surpass Steven Moffat in terms of integrity and talent (I kid, I kid).

Heh. I actually enjoyed that short. But for the sake of not being allowed to have an opinion on Steven Moffat's writing I won't say anything more. ;P

What? Just because I've been vocal about not liking Moffat doesn't mean you don't enjoy it or should stop coming to this thread to discuss the show? I don't like Moffat's writing. Others do. I'm not going to try to change anyone's opinions anymore. I've put out my case and feelings. *Shrug* There's been highs and very big lows for Series 5 & 6.

If it makes it up to any of you, I thought The Hungry Earth-Cold Blood, Vincent And The Doctor, The Lodger and Closing Time were wonderful.

Why do they refer to each season of the show as a "series"?

Is that a British thing?

Yeah, it's British. A series typically has less episodes in than a season too.

I noticed that

I thought it was strange that series 5 only had about 12 episodes

I think on the norm a Series is 12-14 episodes. I know Series 7 is scheduled to have 14 too, but it's still unknown/unconfirmed if it's going to be another split broadcast or a full 14 week straight broadcast (the Olympics cuts into the time where it would normally start or something?). I heard that's where the "7 episodes next September and 7 episodes near New Years 2013" came from originally when everyone got initially upset. I think I would rather sacrifice a full Series 7 for 4 or 5 two hour Specials airing once every 2 months just because of the Olympics blockage.

Actually it's common to refer to old Who as season and new Who as series to distinguish them

or maybe the other way around

I used to think Dr Who was about a doctor who traveled through time to solve murders

There were no aliens. Just some guy working for Scotland Yard or something who would travel back in time to see murders as they took place, so he would know who the murderer is.

2nd Doctor all the way. Or 3rd if you don't want to be bothered by deleted episodes.

Like I've said before, start with the 9th. He's good enough to get you into the series, and the whole season is worked to get you to understand the universe a bit and to set up the next season with Tennant.

You'll be much better off for starting at 9.
