Yeah, you need an emotional break. Hmm... I guess for more lighthearted stuff, Baka and Test would work. It's pretty much all comedy even if they shoehorn the harem/romance subplots in with a train. I can't speak for the dub (don't know which you prefer), but overall it's pretty funny.

However, avoid looking up information on Hideyoshi on the internet. Just don't do it, trust me.

Don't watch Angel Beats for feels, the writing is pretty terrible and the plot was incredibly rushed.

You should only watch it for TK.

Well, I didn't say "don't watch Angel Beats period," I just don't feel like it was as emotional a rollercoaster as some say. The first two-three episodes were good, but then the series ran into fluffy, "our high school days-esque" episodes that only hinted at the larger scheme of things. If the series had more episodes to play with, this would've been fine, but having only 13 segments to flesh out a cohesive plot and coherent storyline leaves little room. The last two episodes ended up being all right, but they weren't as impactful because the build-up wasn't as powerful as it could have been (due to, as you said, pacing).

Plot aside, they had a plethora of characters to flesh-out and build upon, but KEY only ended up centering on a handful. Given the episode restriction, I could understand this - but if you're not going to use that time to build on the plot, then why not at least build up the characters?

Some aspects of the show were great, while others were definitely lacking. It's worth a watch, but not if you're looking for "feels", imo.

I've recently become very into Black Butler. I am on Season 2.

That feeling when an Anime about conventions gets a TV-M rating solely because of the way otaku fanboys act. When they aren't even main characters.

So I've finally had the time to work on watching FMA Brotherhood. I've been putting off watching the last five episodes for a couple of days now because I'm not sure what to start watching next, maybe the Detective Conan movies.
Also because Brotherhood is wrecking me emotionally and OHGODWHATMORECANYOUDOTOME.

it gets to a point where it's mostly AWESOME ACTION and then it goes right back to ripping your heart out and crushing it into a million little pieces

No. Angel Beats is about people that lived crappy lives (usually because of an event that happened in their childhood, though they don't have to die as children) and end up in an afterlife high school to work through their problems. However, a group of kids there decide to rebel against "God" for giving them unfair lives, and they have to fight a girl called "Angel" that's trying to make them behave and continue going to school (since she's the Student Council President).

They got pretty well fleshed out characters, backstories are believable (and in this setting, it makes sense for everyone to have a special snowflake backstory), there's a lot of humor, everyone is an idiot, and it's really good.

Anyways, Episode 5 is what made me fall in love with the series as being more than a "typical" comedy/action (though the action went back and forth) anime, and the rest was golden. It really was rushed, and I wish they'd expand it (though a visual novel is coming out over the events of the anime, maybe they'll expand on it there?), but it was still a good anime.

Really hope they'll get on with season 2. It's been announced two years in a row and nothing has materialized. :I
