TLK, if the show disappoints and irritates you as much as you claim, why do you still watch it.

I love the show. I love the concept. I love the idea behind it. I love the build up from premiere to finale. I watch it because I've seen every previous Series and feel just because two of the most recent Series' was screwed up and wrongly handled by someone I don't feel has the ability to be a showrunner for Doctor Who doesn't mean I won't watch it, enjoy whatever moments there are to enjoy and know what has happened for the future when his job is given to someone else (no, I'm not implying he's going to be fired, but a single person in this position doesn't seem to last for more than a few Series' before handing it off to someone new).

I thoroughly enjoyed Christopher Eccleston's run on the show. To me, he's the biggest reason why this show has become what it is. Without him, it would never have squashed the doubts of people when it was initially revived in 2005. David Tennant and RTD were a match made in Heaven and brought emotion, heart break, a sense of danger and intrigue to the show that it really needs. They gave it a heart beat and made it internationally renown. Matt Smith's portrayal is by far my favorite though. If anybody asked me "Who is your Doctor?" Matt Smith would be my answer one hundred percent.

However, I don't like the stories Matt Smith has been forced into for his run. They seem farfetch'd and basic by Who standards and really, Moffat has made every single answer blatantly obvious every episode for the finale's reveal/twist. The Cracks? He showed up them for every episode bar two. And the Big Bang? Rebooting the Universe? Really? And from Amy's memory, no less. It made no sense to me how she was the only one capable of it. The Cracks were meant to pull objects out of time and remove them. But somehow the universe was passed through it into Amy's head... and they didn't explain it with more than a "you're a complicated person aaaaaaand the cracks are everywhere so yeah, everything went in one side and into you through them". How that makes sense boggles my mind.

But I won't rant anymore about the flaws of the last two Series'. I enjoy the show right now primarily because of Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill. Sorry, but Karen Gillan nailed two or three episodes but the rest she really could have not been there and the episode still would have worked.

tl;dr - I've loved the show up until now and just because one person, in my opinion, isn't good at creating logical story progression and engaging enough plot doesn't mean I won't watch to keep up with what happens so in the future I'll still have all the continuity remembered.

No matter what Moffat does

He will always be better than RTD.

Because Moffat is the one who said "Fuck the Daleks". For an entire season (except for about five seconds, which is fine).

My hero.

Daleks or no Daleks, it would have made no matter to me. As long as we got some quality episodes and stories with a great overarching plot. Which we unfortunately did not get much of.

Fifth Series pretty much ignores anything that happened before it aside from mentions in sentences every now and then or a subtle nod/inside joke about past history.

It's a good and fair spot to start, but if you want the most out of the show I'd say to start from Series 1 so you know all the nods/jokes/references when they do happen. But for the most part, anything Series 5 onward is self contained to 5+ and doesn't need previous knowledge for the most part.

lolnope.

Start at Season 1 because it's a pretty good place to start, it teaches you about everything fairly quickly as well. After that, it's Tennant. 2-4 are the best seasons ever and the only reason you REALLY watch S1 is to set up Tennant.

Matt Smith is good and all but you cannot beat Tennant in a doctor-off. He is simply the best there is.

This was the short written by some schoolchildren. To be perfectly honest, it shows.

Although I'm sure that TLK will argue that the primary schoolchildren that wrote this easily surpass Steven Moffat in terms of integrity and talent (I kid, I kid).

Quote:
Filming on the Doctor Who Christmas special continued this week. The episode appears to be set during World War 2 (Deja Vu).Earlier in the week, filming took place at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. Guest star Alexander Armstrong was shooting scenes and tweeted “I sat in a Lancaster yesterday. Hadn’t twigged it was Filming in Warplanes Day…”

Alexander Armstrong also posted this picture of Matt Smith and himself in anRAF uniformon location at Stradey Castle.

People have been guessing it since Amy Pond.
