My favorite is Applejack. I am always a fan of the cowboy characters in shows.

I'd say this has more to do with the cast being 95% female. There's just so few male characters in the show that actually have more than one apparence or a proper speaking role.

My fav character is Rarity. She's fabulous.

In other news, I just spent a whole week at a stables, and I know the anatomy of MLP has always been cutesy but goddam the heads are sooo short in the toon, and they dont have proper legs stucture and the tails are usually flat when just standing and raise up a bit when, flicking at flies/walking/crapping, whereas in the show they're always really perky. And horse fart a lot, too. I've never seen that in the show.

That might be part of the reason I can't draw the mlp style, I keep thinking of real horses.

That's sort of what I said, "the dearth of named male characters".

Background boners, on the other hand, are about 50/50.

one time someone(bacon) convinced me to draw some sort of anti-pony and i tried to utilize the show's style but jesus fucking christ the anatomy in MLP is so fucking bullshit i had an extremely hard time drawing it.

Like holy shit one of the things that bothers me most about MLP is the generic templated design of all the characters and yet that thing right there is still badass

I'm a bit bothered by the standard designs as well.

I suppose that's why I like the ones with non-standard designs (Mr Cake, Flim & Flam, Post Haste, etc.)

There's a reason they use a lot of templates, though.

That makes sense, I 'spose. Better it be a conscious design decision than one of laziness or simply not noticing it. That said, I still find it amusing that so many fans hold up MLP as the next great wonder of character design despite that fairly major flaw.
