the funny thing is... that's how Doctor Who started. To teach kids about history is fun and wacky ways

Oh, I know. But shows evolve and mature, and I'd like to think it started as that and as those kids grew and matured, so did the show along with them. Changing as they did into something they would consistently like and enjoy for years.

And in today's atmosphere of television, it's more logical for them to have kept this kind of dark, gritty and stylized Who than the kid friendly version, not that it's too dark anyway.

But in today's day and age, the show is suited far more logically in the current genre it's slowly progressed to and should try to stay there as it delivers some of the best TV globally right now.

yeah they're like fucking 50 now

Dr. Who is not super grimdark and gritty nor is it a show solely for children and it will never be either of those things

That's why Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures exist

It's a family show designed to appeal to everyone

I still don't understand why everyone is up in arms about it being dark in the first place. Night Terrors was supposed to be the "scariest episode yet" and the only creepy thing about it was the life-size dolls running around. If people think that's "scary" and "dark", I have about 15 other shows that can change their mind.

But thinking on it now, nobody can ever agree with anyone else. I love the new Doctor Who, I have two friends who dislike it because it isn't as "faithful" to the classic Who. *Shrug* All I can say is that it's become immensely popular around the world, so it must be doing something right.

Also, did anyone else catch the finale for Torchwood: Miracle Day last night? Wouldn't mind discussing a few things about it.

I watched it. It was horrible, just, so many things wrong with it.

See, I've heard this from a lot of people. But I don't understand what was wrong with it? Are you talking about the logistics of what happened? Or just "where were the aliens!? This isn't Torchwood!" Because I've heard that last line from everyone and I tell them "It's Torchwood. They deal with supernatural threats when The Doctor isn't available to deal with it. This was one of those times. It was on a small-ish scale in comparison to other times, but still."

if you don't see why it wasn't Torchwood then you need to rewatch the first Torchwood series

Jack's blood wasn't what made him immortal! I'm pretty sure they've dealt with that before, and, if I recall correctly, it was the TARDIS bringing Jack back from the dead which made him unkillable. Putting his blood in the black guy shouldn't have made him into a black Jack!

I've seen the original Torchwood series', and I really don't understand why people have been freaking out over it.

Also, I don't think it was Jack's blood that made Rex immortal. The woman in Shanghai said what happens on one side of the pit happens at the other too. Which is why Jack and Rex had to drop Jack's blood into it at the same time. So when Jack became immortal, Rex became immortal too. It happened at both sides at the same time.

Also, the woman said that not even the families know everything about the miracle and the errand boy at the end said that this was only a test run. So "hiccups" are expected and mistakes in Plan A, so now they're going to Plan B which should in theory work more successfully for them.

EDIT:

Didn't see the "the blood isn't what made Jack immortal!" bit.

As far as my recollection goes, nobody has ever actually stated "blood doesn't make Jack immortal". They've only stated when Rose used the Time Vortex that she merely resurrected him but did so that would last forever by accident. They've never stated that the blood in him also doesn't help keep him immortal too. In a sense, Rose made everything about Jack immortal, including his blood. Every piece of Jack was given that immortal ability. So it's not completely farfetched that his blood wouldn't also "reset" the Miracle pit for the Human race to be immortal.

As far as the "but wouldn't the human gasps like Jack and come back to life too then?" goes. Jack was the only person who was brought back "forever" by Rose, not every single human being. While Jack's blood could be used for "never dying", it doesn't mean that the humans wouldn't just suddenly wake up perfectly fine either. They weren't given the "come back to life every time you die" ability, only Jack. They were given pseudo-immortality by indirect extension.

I like that the Doctor went and saw Greg/Craig/whatever his name is again. He is now one of my favorite minor characters (Don't hurt me please, I only started watching at Season 15). The season finale is going to be awesome.

Yeah, I should have recognized that was the neighborhood he droppedRory and Amy off in. (at least it looks like it, and they did cameo)
But it's also a nice touch because the silence built that fake TARDIS that was ontop of his house the first time. (I think it was said they did in the season opener)

Apparently James Corden has been receiving emails from Moffat about future appearances that James is really interested in.

For some reason it makes me believe that since Arthur Darvill has other commitments next year that James might be replacing him as a part-time companion. Which I wouldn't mind for maybe 3-4 episodes.
