There are a lot of good things to say about this finale but my raging aviation boner is getting in the way of me saying them.

I was really glad that they at least sort ofjustified Korra's access to the avatar state and her past lives, even though she didn't really seem to have made a ton of spiritual progress. With the whole lowest point thing, I mean. I didn't like the way she got her bending back though, I would have been much happier if Katara had just fixed it, because then their new knowledge of Amon would have helped them and it would have tied together nicely.

I like Tarrlok now. I thought he was a good character, but now he's one of the better ones.

"No, you're hurting it!"

I started d'awwing at little Tarrlok, and it just made the ending worse.

Tarrlok, you're still a dick, if only because you killed yourself and Amon right when we were starting to like you.

The way the finale ended rustled me off at first, but then I realized that the storyline for season 1 was more than likely made entirely back when LoK was only planned to be 26 episodes.

26?

I thought it was originally 8 then expanded to 12 and stayed there until the second season was recently announced.

I originally was told LoK was supposed to be a 26 episode series. Dunno if that's true or not but I heard it from a voice actor so I assumed it was true.

It was originally supposed to be a short mini-series, just about 6-8 episodes about Korra fighting equalists and learning airbending. Then they expanded it slightly and that caused the series to get pushed back to now.

Then a 14 episode season 2 was announced when the first two episodes were leaked early because of the Korranation facebook campaign.

At least, that's what I understood this all as.

I was just thinking about the suicide-murder scene. People had the same reaction "omg VIOLENT DEATH in a kids show" when Pokemon Hunter J was hit by lightning, crushed, drowned, and exploded, along with her entire crew. It was a real WTF scene.

Haha, what, really?

I remember her disappearing off the face of the planet, didn't know all that happened.

I guess she was the Pokemon equivalent of Rasputin?

I rather liked the way the suicide murder scene played out. Amon takes his own brother's bending away on a whim and repents for it with a simple "sorrylol!" AFTER he royally fucks things up for his movement. Tarlok may have been a sleeze ball, but Amon was just a horrible brother I mean ho...ly...shit. And then that smug look on his face... I'm rather pop flyin' with how it ended.

EDIT:
So as my proposal for the whole "Is tarlok still a dirtbag?" querry, I offer you this: Yes, but not nearly as much as his brother.

last episode spoiler

wouldn't it have been have been more kid friendly for tarlok to just zap amon and turn them both in? but i guess with his blood blending he could escape easily, depending on how well korra's mastered energybending
