Well funnily enough Doctor Who was supposed to be an educational show when they played with the going back in time thing; but then Science Fiction happened. Not so much of a bad thing when they play with history. Take the Victory of the Daleks for example, that wasn't comedic so much as Angry Doctor. I personally like Angry Shouty Doctor.

Well, he could've introduced the Time Lord Victorious thing a little bit earlier, rather than two episodes before he regenerated. Would've been cool to see, and then someone could call him out on it.

I moved down to Arizona right after Matt Smith's reign as Doctor #11 started, so I only saw up to the Weeping Angels 2 parter before I moved. And i didn't really have a chance to watch the show anymore.

Recently we got Netflix and I can start catching up, but I've heard lots of spoilers for the new season and just

it sounds like all the new episodes are weird and uncomfortable as fuck and I'm not sure if i want to catch up anymore.

Just watch the episode where the TARDIS is a lady.

Just that one.

You don't have to watch the rest.

It's not that I'm bothered by there being comedy in Who and whatnot. It's just when they intentionally try to make a situation funny that it sometimes comes off as forced. But usually the actors/actresses are amazing and still pull the lines off. I just hope we don't have the Doctor/Amy/Rory jumping from key points in time just to have Rory punch things or to do a quick one-liner zing on the historical figure before disregarding them entirely.

But if there was one point in Earth's history I'd enjoy seeing The Doctor travel to, it would be the invention of the wheel, 3500BC. I'd just find it hilarious if somehow The Doctor was the reason behind the wheel being invented. I don't know why... I just would.

This is actually what season 6 has been like for me. You should definitely watch season 5, that was fantastic. But season 6 has been weird and I'm not sure I like where they're taking it. It's like some of the stuff they're using is good ideas, but the actual implementation is...off. River Song has been a very strange story arc, and I'm not sure I like everything they did with it and with her. It's more than just continuity issues, it's a lot of stuff that doesn't flow well together and doesn't seem like it really belongs there in the first place.

And it did bother me that the episode was supposedly about Hitler and all they did was give it a few lines. The episode could easily have taken place in any other time and place and been the same thing.

Haven't watched Night Terrors yet. I keep hoping for the season to get fantastic and make everything better, but it's not happening and each new episode that doesn't makes me a little bit more uncomfortable.

Series 5 and 6 have been severely strained because of River Song. Moffat has this adoration with the character and doesn't seem to know how to "let go". She's appearing in the last two episodes this Series as well. Over-exposure has killed her as a character for many people. If she were to only have appeared once every Series so people wouldn't forget about her then made her this relevant the Series after the 50th Anniversary year, it might not have been so bad and would've been far more exciting. It just all seems too rushed and jumbled. And when River first said to Tennant "you're The Doctor but you're not my Doctor." I was assuming we wouldn't know her identity for at least one more actor's worth of a regeneration. Not, bodaciously, the next two Series after every other episode.

Moffat has brilliant ideas, don't get me wrong. It's the fact that Moffat executes most of them very poorly, blatantly obviously and hypes the little things (like Hitler) to no end when they don't even mean anything. As soon as Moffat decides to step down and leave for his Sherlock Holmes TV show, we might actually get back on track with whoever takes over and hopefully won't have any other commitments to bog down Doctor Who.

OR we could get another RTD in which case there goes everything good the show had going for it.

Well, that's why I threw in the "we might" part. I love Matt Smith's take on The Doctor, I just find the stories he's being given to work with are lower than sub-par. And as much as people tout his Series' so far being "too complex", they really haven't. They're fairly tame and simple if you actually just use your brain to piece things together. But all people like to do is complain about everything so it won't surprise me if the criticism of it's "complexity" leads to something bad in the show's future in terms of production. Like turning it into a Magic School Bus-inspired show or Dora The Explorer levels of basic mindedness.
