Hopefully they'll stay that way. That was a really good conclusion to story. The deus ex machina just felt so forced and awkward.

I admit that I hoped for Book 2: Spirit

It was forced because they wanted to make everyone think it was going to end that way, only for the real ending to happen in the last minute or so.

And book 2 could still be spirit. I doubt knowing airbending has just made her automatically a pro at spiritual shit. Especially given her attitude.

Besides, we need more spirit advisor Aang.

And the real ending was still a massive Deus Ex Machina.

You expected anything different from Avatar?

Water Book: Aang goes Avatar state with the Ocean spirit and wipes out the fire nation fleet.

Earth Book: Aang goes Perfect Avatar state because he lets go of Katara really easily despite the fact that he's doing it to save her.

Fire Book: Aang angsts for 3 episodes about killing Ozai and then when they finally fight, he takes his bending away, because a Lion Turtle taught him how to just moments before and apparently none of his past lives knew jack squat about it.

This is kind of their thing.

Yeah, and it's getting really old. I think that a lot of people (me included) expected a different outcome since it's a new series, but I guess not. They had a chance to do something interesting but instead BOOM, AVATAR STATE and everything's alright.

Couldn't exactly end on a downer ending when this was going to be just a 12 episode series. I doubt the second season was even announced at a time where changes could me made to the ending, and even if it was, usually first seasons end well for shows like this (on the off-chance that future seasons get cancelled once shit starts airing).

Yeah I understand the ending fits for a one-season show.

And now I'm sort of afraid they'll have no plot for season 2 and it will just be kind of silly!

When Korra airbended for the first time I sort of hoped that she'd stay that way, thus devolving the next season to re-learning how to bend by visiting the various states

That was my original thought for how things would go, but I'd have felt bad knowing that Lin wouldn't have her bending in the meantime. They could have always just said that Katara was able to heal Lin but not Korra "because avatars are different" but IDK.

I think the ending was good. It showed Korra improving on what was the main conflict from the beginning, the lack of spirituality and connection to her past lives. Now she has a platform she can build off of.

I can honestly say I loved the entire finale. I enjoyed Noatak's backstory because I did not see it coming at all. I enjoyed Korra airbending at the moment where she needed it most. The action was amazing and very well choreographed.

I think the Legend of Aang was a better overall series in terms of writing, but Korra has definitely given me some of my most favorite characters. I don't even know to begin on how much I enjoy Bolin, Lin, Iroh and, already, Bumi.

What really struck me was how incredibly dark the part is where Tarrlock commits suicide and thereby killing his brother. For a moment there I was actually going "What?! In a kid's show?!"

Also, fuck MaKorra.

I wish the boat scene was the very last part, would of made a great shock twist ending.

Konietzco: "For this kind of series, you have to have high stakes, and you have to have consequences, or else it’s like a sitcom show that just resets every week, and they live in a bubble"

So then why did you make the ending like that?
