remaining calm and collected doesn't have much to do with redirecting lightning

and yet here we are...

Redirecting lightning is taking it in, forcibly giving it the correct course, and then firing it out.

Willpower isn't very important to that.

Remember when Katara couldn't heal the Terra Team after they had their chi blocked?

Water bending that effects the biology of a subject doesn't seem to work when the subject's chi has been blocked. He probably blocked his own chi.

jeez I wasn't even referring willpower to lightning stuff

I'm just saying that all of these emotional states affect bending in a certain way, and you can't rule out willpower vs. bloodbending because it's fiction.

I agree what you're saying about a person's emotional state having a knock on effect on their bending but I don't think it's willpower that helped him resist. In the flashback Aang (who is pretty willpowerful) had to revert to the Avatar State to overcome the blood bending. That's more than mere willpower!

With so much technology in the show couldn't Amon have worked on something that helps protect against blood bending, or bending of all types within his own body. Either that or his power to block bending is more then just stopping someone from bending, but effecting the bending around him.

Willpower would not help with bloodbending. All that cracking and grotesque noise was the blood forcibly being moved, pulling the muscles and organs with it. Trying to overcome that with willpower/physical force would just result in tearing yourself apart.

No, it has to have something to do with being able to block the bending energy from within, so the blood can't be controlled.

If it were willpower then wouldn't Korra have been able to stop it? At that time she was trying to get her friends out of prison and had a lot at stake. It would have to be something other then willpower.

Alternatively, Amon is a robot or human with robotic parts/enhancements/armor (Ironman). Even if his human parts of his body were being bent, the robotic could resist.

Dunno if it's possible with this level of tech, but hell.

Also, I'm starting to get vibes that Amon could be more than 1 person. I feel like there's gotta be a twist coming up, and it would be neat to find out that amon is nothing more than a figurehead/alias and that there are multiple people who can use "his" technique while hiding under the mask.

Sato is kind of an idiot.

His whole motivation against benders was one took his wife away from him
and now he's indiscriminately bombing a city. How does that make sense Sato? It don't that's how.

"A bender killed my wife" is probably just his justification for being kind of an asshole who wants more power than he already has.

Then again, Sato has been around Amon, who happens to be a very charismatic person who would find no difficulty in brainwashing him.
