That was actually the source of the term, I believe.

It's used as an actually-pretty-funny joke in this video:

No thanks.

Care Bears do not have the same appeal as the ponies.

The main villain better be Nefarious Bear.

Yeah. It's probably not going to be made with as much effort as was put into FiM. Faust actually wanted to make an awesome show; Hasbro is most likely trying to crib off of MLP's succes without actually putting effort into making a show that is interesting to both adults and children.

MLP was at lease animated well.

This... This looks like sh!t so far.

I will not become a... "Belly... Bro." Ugh.

From what I saw back when MLP FiM was new, people started taking a liking to it because it was being created by Lauren Faust, who worked on shows like Foster's Home, a show known for having a wider audience than just kids. They wanted to see if Faust could make a show like MLP accessible to a wider audience, so the fans thought "What the heck, I'll give it a shot", and the rest is history.

Oh wow, now I'm imagining "Belly bros" chest bumping each other while having painted on hearts or whatever they're called on their bellies.

Belly badges: Carebear version of cutie marks.

It's like they didn't even try to come up with something original.

Which came first? The pony, or the bear?

Either 1981 or 1983 for both of them, it seems. Huh.
