I got to the end and said "that's it?" to myself several times
It was bodaciously eleven minutes of "let's spend time together" "we never do anymore" "I was jealous"
The only noteworthy thing was when she turned into Rose to belittle Greg, which I admit was pretty serious shit
And yet it crashes and burns the instant Steven says the line about the cat
"He was oblivious ha ha" no, fuck no he is obviously smarter than that, he saw and heard the entire fucking conversation please do not degrade his character for the sake of a canned laughter-tier "fakeout"
Haven't you realized by now that Steven acts oblivious a lot to spare the gems' and his dad's feelings? Didn't you watch
The Test? I think his rant at the end of the episode got his message across just fine even though he intentionally phrased it as if he was talking about the garage.
It was about more than 'let's spend time together, I was jealous'.
Amethyst--and likely Garnet and Pearl--still miss Rose very much. She was basically their leader and perhaps a mentor as well. Amethyst still felt bitter that Rose's relationship with Greg led to Rose's "death". The only criticism I have about the episode is that the symbolism of the garage
(things in the past that weigh us down and keep us from living in the present unless we take the time to sort them out) was very heavy-handed, but it's a kid's cartoon. It's allowed to lay the symbolism on thick so that its audience will understand.
