I'm sure that will come in time. The last episode aired even foreshadowed a fight happening with some monsters.

I'm really hoping that the majority or entirety of the next episode is nothing but fighting. If it turns out that there's only like 2 minutes of actual fight scenes, I'll be pretty angry.

Looking at the trailer and concept of the show, it really does look like a typical action show. When the first things you learn are that there are monsters and humans fight them with magical powers then that doesn't leave a whole lot of room to infer other things.

But why does that mean the show now has to be ALL ACTION ALL THE TIME?

I really don't understand what people are so upset about.

It doesn't. But it gave that impression, so people are rightly feeling like it's not living up to the promise.

Besides which, it's RoosterTeeth.

When you're there for their stuff, you're generally there for snarky commentary, jokes, and action.

A kinda slow paced thought out story that was heavily advertised as "kick booty girls kicking booty" seems out of place to the fans.

I agree with Madican. I think they could have done a lot more to get the word out that it's not going to be all fighting all the time. Some more up-front discussion with Monty and the crew about the show's content placed somewhere where everyone can find it (say, the front page of Rooster Teeth) would have done a lot of good. I knew it wasn't going to be all fighting because Miles (one of the writers for the show) talked about it during a podcast a while back, not exactly readily available to everyone interested in the show. I did find the character interactions in the last two episodes to be good, so I'm not complaining, but that's because I knew what to expect unlike a lot of other people.

Speaking of the trailers, when I looked up the Wikipedia page for RWBY and read the description of Weiss and her weapon, I thought it was going to be really boring compared to the others. Then I watched her trailer and HOLY CRAP THAT IS A RAPIER WITH A GUN CHAMBER.

AWESOME

Yeah, it is pretty cool. I also like Pyrrha's rifle-spear/javelin and Adam's sword, even if it's almost a straight copy of Jetstream Sam's sword. Its added ability to absorb and redirect energy like in the Black Trailer was awesome.

I looked up RWBY and I couldn't help but think:

"Oh look yet another show featuring a bunch of (barely) teenage girls who lack anywhere near the kind of muscle mass to wield the weapons they brandish in yet another kind of faux-macho 'girl power' monster-slaying pile of dick."

I am so tired of seeing this same kind of shit being churned out and thrown at me from every direction.

These girls all look the same to me - I'd rather see some more mature women thrown in there - or at least a woman who actually has the kind of body shape that would make slinging a scythe a realistic proposition.

A show which features four girls who are all the same age and build is a lost opportunity.

Scythes aren't really things that lend themselves to being used as weapons anyways outside of fantasy.

They're way too long and their purpose is different than most other bladed weapons.

Really, the only effective way to use a scythe is using it as a combination of pole and blade, almost like flag-twirling. Swinging it around isn't going to give you the power to do much but cut into the skin a bit, and it's going to put a tremendous strain on the body.

Depends actually. A full-length scythe is definitely a niche weapon, but making them into something more like the size of a sickle is actually pretty good. The curve of the blade would allow for unpredictable attacks as well as reaching around, or ripping away, things like shields.

I remember Monty explaining that she uses her gun/scythe weapon to propel herself across distances effectively, shooting the gun part while it's a scythe to send herself flying in a direction or to add force to her slashes. She can also plant the scythe in the ground with the blade and pick off enemies at-range. This was all in the first trailer.

Besides, the other three girls have different weapons that aren't ridiculously huge. One has a rapier with magic properties, another has a pair of gauntlets with shotguns/regular guns built in, and the last one has a weird-booty sword/gun/chain-scythe hybrid which is propelled along more by gunshots than swinging it around. Another girl that's not in the main four has a rifle/javelin combo.

Except they don't look anything alike in the actual show.
