I don't think the episode would've been so terrible if the writers knew how to properly:

o Stage the set-ups for the episode.
o Write characters so their storylines don't feel like 10 different ideas combined into one all-over-the-place cliche.

This episode would have worked a lot better if we didn't get the first 15-20 minutes of the episode setting up the middle twenty minute black and white skit.

How the episode structure should have went:

- Episode opens with Kurt staring out window with Blaine coming up behind him and doing their black and white Christmas special opening. Don't explain why.
- Run half of the length of the planned skit and end just before Finn/Puck get there with their Star Wars costumes.
- During the "intermission", have the kids all be around the studio doing random things to get ready for the second half. Finn tells Rachel her number was amazing, she goes googly eyed for him, gives him her list without sounding like a self-centered, entitled bitch. Rachel asks why Finn is Luke Skywalker. Flash over to Mr. Shue and TV Station Manager in front of Artie asking him to direct the special. Artie says he'll do it if he can combine his two favorite specials together. Shue rolls his eyes and the Station Manager says ok.
- Quinn looks upset and a little uncomfortable as Mr. Shue wanders over saying how much she's changed in the last few months, for better and worse at times. She says she doesn't know if ignoring Sam and Sue's plea was a good idea or not just to get some media attention was worth it. /Flash to Sam/Sue asking the Glee Club to perform and help out at the soup kitchen. Shue says the Station Manager only agreed to broadcast if it was live with production values to make his station rake in some more cash. Sam relays his comparison to the unfortunate, everyone gets uncomfortable and Sue says she has a heart of black ice but the Glee Club just showed how much THEY have changed in the last few months. Sam/Sue storm out./ Shue says they need to be popular more so they can be recognized for their talents. Quinn says it's selfish for them to think of themselves during this time of year when helping out at the soup kitchen and broadcasting from there would have been more appropriate and leading by example. Shue realizes she's right and Quinn says tell Artie she's leaving. Showcase Artie's on-the-fly directing ability to re-choreograph Quinn's number.
- Second half of the special begins and ends without a hitch.
- TV in soup kitchen on a wall nearby Sam/Sue/Quinn feeding the homeless is on and they discuss how they're all feeling about themselves. Sam repents for his stripping, Quinn for her obsessive compulsions and Sue for her actions against innocent kids to fulfill her own dreams.
- TV then shows Artie rolling onto screen and saying that part of the good will the Glee Club has, they've told the station to not pay them for their performance and allow for an additional half hour of airtime and to join them for additional merriment. Cut to the front doors of the kitchen opening (it's Glee, realism doesn't work. So in Glee's world this wouldn't come off as weird) and the Glee Club walks in singing a song and the cameramen follow as they all join Sue/Sam/Quinn one by one to help out and sit with the homeless to listen to their stories.
- End episode with Finn/Rachel standing outside on the street corner ringing the bells talking. Rachel asks for her list back, scribbles something down on it, hands it back and shows "you" at the bottom with a checkmark. Have Rachel say she got the most important thing on her list this year as Finn agrees and have them sing a duet as people walk by and drop cheddar in to end the episode.

Seriously. How hard is it to write something like this for the Glee writers? They are TERRIBLE.

Thanks. I just don't understand why most TV show writers have such difficult times keeping things coherent and consistent. I've found the quality of TV and writing has degraded greatly this past decade. General viewing audience has just gotten so accepting with what's given to them and just shrug when asked why they don't care more.

Still haven't watch last night's episode, but I saw the final scene online and just said "that's stupid..."

Also, Rachael's dads have been cast for future episodes.

This makes like, the billionth week in a row that I've just flat out forgotten that Glee existed.

I think I'm done with the show.
(thank jeebus)

So how about that clincher winter finale? :psyduck:

That was a very dense episode. So many thick topics.
Acceptance from coming out of the closet, attempted suicide, teen marriage, texting and driving, the list goes on and on.

I got a bit a free time from my homework, and I'm wasting it catching up on Glee.
Starting with the Christmas episode.

So.
You know. I never fucking recognize any of the Pop songs on this show. Like seriously not a one.
But I recognize like all of the songs from musicals.
Tuxedo Mask and I giggled for several minutes during and after the Grease song in Yes/No
