It may sound rude, but it makes me kind of glad that I never really got invested in the comic. Every time I tried to read through it I just stopped at one point or another. If I got way into it I know I would be right rustled.

I don't see what the point in her censoring and remaking panels is. It will NEVER pass for kid-appropriate material--it's got demons, mentions of suicide, and at one point a character is impaled through their torso. There's no need to censor something that's going to be intended for more mature audiences.

If it's her publisher that's making her do it, I would question the intentions of the publisher. Who are THEY trying to market it to?

This whole thing is making me suspicious.

What are you talking about? It's a coming-of-age story about a girl with a ghost buddy on a space adventure.

I don't know that comic but it's not like that's an uncommon practice. Death and killing are a-okay but don't you dare saying bad words.

YA market. Cursing and such is very limited but other than that it can get extremely dark in terms of subject matter. All depends on the publisher.

Finished reading the original CAD.
Thoughts:
It's really not as bad as some people make it out to be. It's terrible, but not an abomination.
People give it flack for trying to inject drama with the infamous miscarriage thing, but there were serious (well, relatively) storylines years before that, some being just as long and unrelated to video-games.

The art was only terrible until the second-half of 2009, where he suddenly stopped copy-pasting his own characters. Than it was just mediocre and uncanny (the proportions weren't cartoony enough to justify three-fingered hands anymore imo and Ethan's stupid hair looked even more terrifying) and it only got noticeably better from then on.
One thing I can say is that he's really good at continuity. Characters reference 5 years old events and abandonned ideas get retooled (like the Linux guy's satellite), and it always works. It even feels like he planned ahead from time to time. But then again, Lucas' main girlfriend didn't appear a single time in 2011 and 2012 and Lucas mentions they broke up and it's never brought up again, and I can't even remember the Linux guy's name and he probably also didn't appear for years and I couln't tell, and Ethan's brother is only mentionned during his storyline and forgotten immediately afterwards. The very last storyline was also okay and it retconned a lot of unused threads into foreshadowing and was a genuinely good culmination of a lot of the elements that made the series what it was. It was rushed at the very end though.

The jokes is where it falls flat. Not a single strip made me even smile. The punchline is usually 'cartoon violence', 'RANDUMNESS', 'tiddies', a nonsensical rape joke, or 'Ethan is mentally disabled LOOK AT HIM AND LAUGH', and most of the time the straightman explains the joke afterwards so that it is no longer a joke. The best part was undeniably the wedding, in the second half of 2009, because it was a single long storyline with only marginal amounts of attempts at being funny and that made them tolerable. It also helped that he didn't bother bringing up Wintereenmas that year.

Apparently since he rebooted the comic, Tim Buckley is focussing on simple gags with no continuity. I think he completely misses his true calling. He just can't write humor. I remember a single strip that was well constructed (from circa 2007). The punchline was complete shit, but it was well contructed. Every other attempt is trite and insulting for the reader, and the first 5 years gave me headaches because of how wordy the strips were. He should really just drop humor completely and write drama. No seriously. The comic's quality was way higher whenever he did storylines because it didn't involve forced video-game references or his self-insert character being worshipped by everyone or just stopping everything to give lectures about his very important opinions. It's obvious he watches a lot of TV and action movies and some storylines had an actually good flow (unlike the typical 4 identical panels of B^u variations) so he can convey action and sequential events and stuff when he overcomes his laziness.

The multiplayer strips were all terrible and they all shared the same unfunny non-joke. The Chef Brian ones were abysmal and I just skipped them after a while because there's just no point reading these non sequiturs.

I heard that the people who make Warhammer 40,000 changed the appearance of one of their game pieces to where it didn't have four tiddies anymore. Gotta keep things kid friendly in the grimdark future of the 41st millennium where there is only war!

Pro wrestling is going through a similar transition, with the results you'd expect. WWE parades around with Scooby Doo and the language never gets worse than a slightly mumbled "bitch". The smarks hate it, but the kids love it, and the kids are worth more cheddar so...

Actually on topic, I really hope Zach ends this chapter soon. I know only like twelve seconds have passed since they boarded the train, but it feels like an eternity. I don't think I can handle another cut away.

I'm kind of angry that Castle Vidcons hasn't updated since E3. There has been plenty of big news and screwups over the last two months, the times when he usually draws new comics, but Tyler hasn't made anything. If it's real life stuff, I can understand, but I'd like to see an actual announcement.

To be honest I thought the Scooby Doo WWE movie was decent compared to some of the other newer ones, and it seems infinitely better than the one that just came out.And John Cena seems like a pretty cool guy in the movie too.
But I'm straying farther from the topic than you were.

On topic, anyone else reading One Way? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME

I wonder if there will be a new wave of gamer comics after the new Smash Bros. drops, considering that a fair amount seem to have cropped up after Brawl.
