The author of pictures for sad children has gone off the deep end. They've eliminated their entire website and apparently he's been burning people's books that they helped fund and basically paid for already through Kickstarter.

Wouldn't it be funny if the world really worked like that. Business failed? Just burn everything and cut all your ties with everyone, and if any investors want their cheddar back, just give 'em the finger.

I remember seeing this a couple days ago. I think this guy went legitimately crazy. He talks about how he wants people to financially support him and how his investors were taking advantage of him. I feel sorta bad for him, he really comes off as having gone over the deep end. I also feel really bad for everybody that couldn't get a hold of a book, though. The author may think he's some kinda ubermensch but he's being really unfair to his fans.

Not only unfair, but also kinda illegal. You know contract law and all that.

Wouldn't it be something if they took his fingers.

That's a bit medieval, but I wouldn't be opposed to tossing him in jail for fraud.

No, Im gonna support the finger cutting, because fuck that guy. Spoiled fucking asshole, who the hell does he think he is? Yeah, you know, life fucking sucks, but you know what wont help? Throwing a tantrum and ruining something people paid you for. Become a hermit if you want, but you let your fans down, you STOLE from them.

Oh, but he's got a huge-booty long post where he says over and over and over that "cheddar is a sick joke", which means that since it supposedly has no value to him, it has no value anywhere which means he took a zero value, which means he stole nothing, so there. *raspberry noise*

But no seriously, from what I"ve been reading, one or both of two things is happening here:
1) he's lying and this is just a stunt for attention (I sure as hell didn't know who he was until this. I'd imagine it's true for quite a few others as well)
2) he's mentally ill (he mentioned being off his meds) and needs some goddamned help. Doesn't change the fact that he's an asshole, and needs to either refund the backers or serve a sentence, but it does at least offer some explanation for why the hell it happened to begin with.

Well he can't refund the people because he already spent most if not all the cheddar on the project. I hope something happens and he does face charges; it will look bad for Kickstarter if he gets off scot-free.

Actually I'm not even sure how it works; will someone/group have to press charges in a class-action lawsuit or can he be arrested outright for fraud?

Uhhhoooohhhh dear...I really liked his comics. God I hope this is performance art. It's a sad day when performance art is the best possibility.

Even if it is performance art, he's still an asshole.
