Last night was slightly awkward when I realized I have seen an attempted suicide in a kid's cartoon. Which cartoon was this?
Clifford, The Big, Red Dog
What!?
In one episode Clifford was running back and forth across the island for some reason. Each time he went across we'd see a seen of a man smoothing out a block of wet cement. And then Clifford would run through and splatter it with one of his ginormous paws. This happens about three times. When on the fourth time the man sees Clifford coming. Slaps his head. And throws himself spreadeagled backwards into the cement. He is then surprised when Clifford opts to jump the block and him this time around.
For a while, I had thought the man had given up on smoothing the block. But last night I realized he deliberately placed himself in the way of one of Clifford's man-sized paws.
This man wanted to die.
In a cartoon meant for little kids.
Geez!

Read Supergod. Uh. Yeah. That was probably the craziest thing I've ever seen.

DC is putting Catwoman in the JLA, proving that they just don't give a fuck about characterization anymore.

But I thought that comic book readers got tired of the status quo and everything staying the same? But then once they try something new, people get angry. I for one think it would be interesting to see Catwoman try to be a serious hero rather than an on-again off-again hero.

Catwoman has very rarely been a hero, just a villain with standards.

I wouldn't mind her being a hero or anything but The Justice League of America. She has a list of felonies longer than the Tolkien novels and they let her on the JLA.

Okay yeah, now that I think about it, you're definitely right.

What's your favorite DC series right now, Mander? I'm a fan of The Flash right now.

I've never really followed comics, I read things now and again but I've never had a subscription or anything.

I just hear news from various sources.

All right so the characters were winning tickets to get some fuzzy dice for their friends birthday. After winning 1,000,000 (tickets were a penny each so the dice cost them 10,000$) they had enough for the fuzzy dice. so the animatronic band animals (the ones you see in those kids restaurants) come up to them and steal the dice. I car chase ensues and the band animals crash at the docks. The characters catch up and ask why they took the dice. It turns out that the band animals stole millions worth of uncut diamonds and hid them in the dice and they were going to get off scott free on the night the characters won the dice. SUDDENLY the FBI surrounds the bands and they have fucking shoot out and jesus christ man. and when the show ends it's wrapped up with a what happened to them thing complete with breakfast club music.

That episode was on just a bit ago. Holy shit. There were actual guns, and not just pistols. There were sniper rifles, rocket launchers, and miniguns. I am amazed that they managed to get that through to actual television. I guess it's because the only characters that got killed were the robots. Still... holy fucking shit.

I think tvtropes stated my shock the best
Quote:
In a scene, the robotic dog puts his hand in his pocket and acts like he is pulling out a gun, to which Rigby screams. Many clever fans would have already thought it was something silly or a pen, but he actually does pull out a gun

that's when shit got real
