I watched the first 3 minutes out of sheer curiosity and the guy didn't even seem to be getting anywhere near making any kind of point so I stopped watching.

I browsed /co/ back when you could talk about MLP there. They had a rule that they could only have one MLP thread at a time. And it worked. Sure, there was disturbing discussion at times, but that's just 4chan for you. What caused /mlp/ to be created, in my opinion, was the /b/tards mucking up other boards. And as far as I know, isn't /mlp/ heavily moderated?

Heavily moderated? What rules would they enforce then? It's a sfw board but other than that it seems anything goes as long as the users post pony pics. /mlp/ was created because there were pony threads in every board, and everyone who wasn't a heretic became quite sick of them, thus bombarding moot with requests to do something about it.

Of course, there are still pony threads everywhere but at least it's better than before.
