No no, there's an easy workaround there.

Make your first prototyping something easy to break or defeat, such as Paper or Glass. Then make your tier-2 prototyping the gundam. Tier 2 prototypes don't affect Imp appearance and you still get your Gundamsprite.

This is only true if you tier-1 prototype your kernelsprite with a weak object before you enter the Medium, and tier-2 prototype it with the gundam after you enter the medium. In the comic, some imps have properties of both a cat and a squidprincess, because Rose prototyped her kernelsprite with both before she entered the Medium.

Oh? I thought tier-2 prototyping was prototyping your kernelsprite with a second item, regardless of location.

That's the case. Davesprite was prototyped before going into the Medium, no ? Same with Jasperceldritchsprite.

That wasn't tier-2 prototyping. That was dual tier-1 prototyping, and her choice of prototype rendered a secondary prototyping unnecessary
