Aaron Diaz, author of Dresden Codak, recently updated his Kickstarter to include, among other things, a stretch goal determining how often he would update his comic. If he hits 800 thousand dollars, he'll update his comic biweekly, alongside his other kickstarter rewards.

That's not biweekly as in "twice a week", though. That's biweekly as in every two weeks, aka 26 pages.

If we go with the very generous assumption that producing the books and kickstarter rewards will cost him 100k, leaving him 700k in profit, that's 27,000$ per comic page.

I'm not saying he's a scumbag but he needs to do a serious fucking review of his perspective on cheddar.

It's not a matter of how much the pages are worth, it's how much that money can buy wherever he may live. How many paying jobs he won't take on because of those updates. What's keeping him from updating more often and what it costs. Medical expenses? Student Loan debt? I have no idea. And I would be very careful about calculating profits. I love his work, but how many can he expect to sell? He's not using the 100K to guarantee a successful product, he's using 100K to print books that may very well sit in his apartment for years. 100K is no longer the printing cost. 300K brought an upgrade to the class of the books. You now have to do the math for after that fact.

And Christ...look at what he's printing his comics in and including. Not that it's necessarily worth a fortune, but you can bet the printers will be charging a metric fuckton for that work.

Yes. I asked a stupid question and it turns out she already had a comic related to it.

Oh my god the votey for today's SMBC made me laugh harder than the comic itself did.

Am I the only one disagreeing on what t-shirts they picked for best ones in Strip Search? From a design viewpoint I just honestly think some of the other ones were better.

Then again, even the judges didn't agree with one another entirely.

I think they picked the best design for a t-shirt.

That additional "prize" though and the preview of the next episode. Hoo boy. I saw the setup and immediately envisioned it as a gladiatorial arena. "We who are about to die draw for you."

The little gags below the Twogag strips are sometimes funnier than the strips themselves.

I think they picked the best design but letting the winner pick the people up for elimination is stupid, any smart person would pick the best artists.

Keep in mind this is not the usual crop of reality show contestants. They are not cut-throats and you could tell she really did not want that "prize."

They remarked in a previous strip how much they liked the twist in King of the Nerds wherein the loser was declared the winner, so they might actually go for the unexpected. They might not have intended it as a reward, but a responsibility. When your higher-up tells you to fire someone, who do you fire?

Note that particular strip is done in Gabe's signature Life Lesson color palette. Like this one involving his son.

That makes sense. It also may have served as a test of her character to the rest of the contestants. Is she the type to get rid of potential rivals solely because they're threatening or would she select those she genuinely believes is the weakest link?

It seems to me she went with the latter, which is what would be looked upon favorably for someone in a position of power to do.
