I'm going to go see the Protomen in concert tomorrow

I am in the middle of listening to act 1 for only the second time in my whole life

this will be fun

EDIT: Ok listening to both of them Act 1 is way better than Act 2, why does everybody like Act 2 so much better? I honestly think that Light Up the Night is a just ok song.

It does sort of depend on taste. Act 1 is more metal, it's a more robotic, inhuman kind of sound. Act 2 is intentionally more organic. They're two different types of music in order to emphasize the differences between the two viewpoints.

Act 2 just feels to 80s epic to me. Like they tried a little too hard to be cool.

It's supposed to sound like an 80's rock opera. It takes place before 200X, when Light is younger. Probably around 198X.

Like yes I get that, that doesn't mean that they didn't try too hard to get that feel for me.

Anyway the concert was fun, but honestly The Protomen is one of those bands where you really only have a lot of fun if you know their whole discography by heart which I don't. The Megas and Daikaiju opened up for them and oh my god Daikaiju were so cool they did a bunch of interactive stuff during their set and one of the guys in the band crowdsurfed while he was still playing the guitar.

just listened to "Song for The Morning Star," and that's just pumped me into native american music. That flute really is evocative, no other word to describe it.

So I went to go see the Aquabats on thursday, they were really fun but oh my god that was the moshiest concert I've ever been to in my life and I didn't expect it but it was so fun

Also I got the reissued vinyl of All Hail West Texas by the Mountain Goats in the mail on friday and oh my god it's so good I cried
