Roughly 50 more pages til I've conquered the tome that is A Dance with Dragons

I'm almost not wanting to finish it; I won't have anything else to read for six more years!

Ok not really but reading anything after an A Song of Ice and Fire book just seems...dull somehow.

I wasn't a huge fan of Lord of the Flies either. And I thought Wuthering Heights was okay, but it didn't seem like it really needed the second half of the book.

GUUUUHHH, two awful books.

Especially that second one that I refuse to mention by name.

I'd explain it to you but you probably wouldn't understand anyway.

What's funny is when applied to ASoIaF this almost isn't actually a hipster joke, but truth

How do you give someone a synopsis of this series? So much happens and there are so many plots.

There are a few swordy bits and they're quite good. Just nowhere near as good as the awesome characters who may or may not be holding swords doing really awesome stuff that may or may not be sword-related. Some of my favorite characters mostly do a lot of talking, but when they do, they do it vigorously well.

What's the problem with Lord of the Flies? I really liked it, if it wasn't for us reading it in English I don't think I would ever have read it. I guess it was handy having a teacher explain some of the more complex ideas, but I quite like dystopian books and stuff.

Finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest the other day. I thought it was a fine ending to the series, but holy booty there's a lot of characters.
I don't remember the book having that many characters, but that's subjective.
Anyway, you may know that it was not supposed to be the ending. Larsson was aiming for a series of ten books, the 4th one was done at the two thirds when he died. Maybe that's why he introduced a lot of new characters.
I really liked that series. I had some flaws but was otherwise fairly good and very addictive.

That's not an answer. Literary criticism doesn't involve anyone saying, "Really, you can't tell what's wrong with this?"

The stupid ending for one. These kids are feral, they killed one of their own, and had set up a tribal society. Then a boat comes and they're pop flyin' and childlike again which is really creepy because you then remember they murdered the fat kid.

His name was Piggy and he was my friend.

Also, Exeres, chill. This isn't the Get Your Panties In A Bunch Over Nothing thread.

If I need to go into more detail, it was disturbing, annoying, I don't like most tragedies and/or distopias(except The Giver hnnngh ), and it was a giant metaphor.

I don't like giant metaphors.

I only ever saw the movie Lord of the Flies. From what you've said I like the movie ending better.

Profound empty stares and mindless crying.

"What? Other people exist? ..."

On a related note I like tragedies and giant metaphors so maybe I should read the book.

I noticed in Le Great Handsome Oppressor's first post he mentioned he was a big fan of Terry Pratchett

Great Handsome Oppressor.
