at the end of the day homestuck is about maturity and coming to terms with who you are, shown via 13 year olds

sexual maturity plays a really massive huge part of that, a lot of it does come off as forced and that's because it is. kids at that age force romance, they force being "together" because they're starting to want to and are unsure of how to go about it. and every single time it's actually forced (dirk and jake) and not something that's grown naturally over time (rose and kanaya), it comes off as weird because that's how it actually is.

it's never been anything but the same themes it's going for now. this isn't something that's only just occured, the whole comic is about these same themes. they're just finally coming to a head.

The romance really began with the introduction of the trolls. From that point forward the tone changed completely. Something tells me that these characters were made for a different, future project but just threw it in to appeal to a different crowd. I'm too use to Problem Sleuth I guess.

Honestly I'm not sure, that was kind of vague whether or not she got neck snapped like Aranea or just choked unconscious. But they're certainly doing quite well overall, if only maybe two of them are dead. (And presumably he/they are brought back to life if they're alive in the future to fight Caliborn.)

Did you check hussies list of crossed off characters when he's harassing vriska?

Does that have any correlation?

This update was interesting!

So apparently in order to stoke the Forge, you need to throw the rings into it. That explains why players need to kill the Black King in order to win, aside from preventing the Reckoning.

I dunno, that seems kind of WMG-ish. It could simply be a ring-into-volcano standard method of destroying a dangerous source of power so it can no longer be abused.

Edit: Maaaaaaaaan. The way these updates are coming reminds me of the epilogue of Problem Sleuth. :< It's really coming to a close....

Kanaya bodaciously mentioned that you need a ring of power to stoke the forge, there's no WMG in it at all. It probably does destroy the ring, but it is in fact required.

Oh, this was something established a while ago. If you notice the original quote implies that this was something revealed in the latest update.
