I hate those ads for the show that have those (fake) people discussing the show, the ones with "Bolin makes me lol" and "I know who Amon really is".
Has anybody else seen those?

I only have one question: How quickly do these people advance!? Last I checked, they were in wooden huts and stone structures. Also: The Avatar cycle goes Earth, Fire, Air, Water, back to Earth, repeat. And if Korra struggles most with Air, then logically, she was an Earth bender. They either skipped an avatar, or this is over 100 years in the future. Think about it.

Korra was born to the Southern Water Tribe. An Avatar has the most difficulty with the element they are most spiritually opposed to, not elementally. Aang couldn't be obstinate and confrontational, Korra can't not fight anything head on. The advanced rate seems to be a result of an industrial revolution. It helps that they have Lightning Benders to help speed things along.

The fire nation was also much more advanced than the other nations. So when the war ended, their technology was shared with the rest of the world.

Hmmm... Good points. But I still don't like the fact that they put motorcycles in my Avatar. Plus, if there are Air Benders, wouldn't they be descended from Aang? They really weren't that clear on that, unless the one I saw was the 2nd episode, and not the 1st.

Yeah dude what have you been missing.

Tenzin is the world's only airbending MASTER and he's the song of Aang, and Tenzin himself has three airbending children. There are no other airbenders.

Ah. I knew I was missing some information. Thanks. Although, since Ty Lee invented Chi blocking, and she only taught it to the Kyonshii, er Kyoshee, uh... Fuck that. anyways, how did Amon and his cronies learn it?

The other "airbenders" you may be thinking of (that were shown on Airbender Island wearing the red and yellow wardrobe) were just monks who follow the preachings and philosophies of Aang and past airbenders, as far as I'm aware.

As for Ty Lee, was it ever established that she invented chi blocking? I thought she was just a master at the technique.

Actually, every technological advance is being shown and created at about the same rate as in real life. It's been 70 years, compare 1850 to 1920, or 1920 to the 90s. The technological leap is there and obvious, and they're in the middle of what seems to be a huge industrial revolution. It makes sense, and it's really no faster than human progress ever has been.

Hmm... no, it never said specifically she invented it... But wouldn't the Firelord make use of such a thing if he'd had it at his disposal? Perhaps sending undercover agents inside other cities then having them shut down the biggest threats? I know I would. Then, to insure that they wouldn't turn on me themselves, I'd pretend to have a private award ceremony for them, then execute them. (I think from a villain's point of view.) (Villains are generally cooler, more intelligent, and more refined.)

Firelord Ozai was more the traditional type when it came to the game of "Command and Conquer" where he's more comparable with Genghis Khan. His idea of the ideal takeover was bodaciously taking a mass of his troops, and taking the place over by force, doing so personally if necessary. The type of take over you're thinking of was more the style taken by The United States/Soviet Union during the cold war. Just send spies across enemy lines and try to get the upper hand.
