Don't forget Dave and Rose's dreamselves were also dead when they Godtiered, the moon method let's them go through it with only one version.

Their real/waking selves were killed by Jack and then they revived as their dreamselves. Jake will be the first to die who isn't a dreamself or who doesn't have his alive. I'm probably wrong but I guess we'll see next update

I think it's implied the "moon method" circumvents certain requirements, such as having a separate living self.
