A young man, living in his little isolated homeworld finds something sent from far away by a rebel princess when the imperial troops (led by a terrible man dressed in black) attacked her convoy. Not nowing what to do, he talks about it to an old man living there (old man who is actually one of the last survivors of a long disappeared order of warrior/monks who had strange powers). While he's doing something else, his adoptive father is killed by the imperials, and he goes with the old man, to avenge them. Also the emperor uses the same magic as the ancient order of warrior/monks. Also the main character will discover he's the child of a bad guy. And the old man will die quite quickly : Eragon
