Sette's "father" just used Duane to look after her because he (somehow) knew about Mikaila, and knew that Duane would do everything in his power to protect her, where her less sociable traits might dissuade any other guardian from even trying. Duane admits as much right here.

Sette's origin is a mystery that I don't believe will be solved anytime soon.

Oh hey, I forgot that Duane already told us how long it's been since his resurrection. I guess that nullifies my silly reincarnation theory, because Sette certainly appears older than six.

The story of how Ssael was martyred. As I understand it, Ssael is basically a magical version of Jesus for the Ssaelit faith. He was thrown to lions by those of the Gefendur faith but his soul wasn't cleansed by the Khert as it should have been. Instead, he roamed the Khert, and the memories of the dead opened themselves to his fingers. Now, I know Sette's circumstances were a little bit weirder than "killed by lions," but still, that seems strangely familiar.

I was confused seeing that Rahm apparently doesn't have legs and, wondering how I could have missed this, started reading the last few chapters, noting every appearance he's made thus far. Turns out Wednesday's comic was the first time we were offered a clear look at Rahm's lower legs.

If it gets any thicker, I'm gonna need to bring in the gardening shears.

Plot's picking up slowly. Jivi and Matty are talking to the guards and apparently Anadyne, who works for Stockyard is going to come in and will all likelihood start shit.

Inb4 Sette to the rescue and the heroes of this story are united.

Looks like Elka and Toma are handling the situation quite well.

Don't worry Matty, captain Toma is a loose cannon who doesn't play by the rules! He'll gladly let you and your father off free in exchange for help dealing with the red berry boys!

I love his fist pump in the last panel. It makes him come off as a huge dork.

I'd like to point out that Toma is completely ignoring the fight. He knows that Elka is not going to have any problem dealing with the corrupt guard.

Corrupt guard's remark in panel one is making me wonder, though. I have an idea, and there's so little evidence supporting it that I'll keep it to myself for now.

The last panel of today's update is interesting. I wonder if Matty is finally going to die, like Ashley keeps joking about?

I wonder if Elka's threat at the beginning of the page was true or empty intimidation.
