Timothy Zahn made more sense than George Lucas ever will.

I actually prefer Drew Karpyshyn's work. I've read Darth Bane: Path of Destruction four times already. Never gets old.

Don't think I've read his. Read Anderson's, Perry's, and Stackpole's. Young Jedi, Shadows of the Empire, and X-Wing respectively.

Zahn is the only one that did not suck.

Karpyshyn was the lead writer for KotOR. Start with Path of Destruction, you will not be disappointed.

I've actually gotten away from what I now know to be professional fanfiction.

That and I just don't care for the Star Wars universe much anymore.

Louis L'amour: Last of the Breed. Just the setting (Siberia) and premise (escape) had me hooked since I first read it. One of my all time favs.

Just finished The Lord of the Rings, with mixed feelings. Sure, it is a huge world with a rich history and stuff, but it was all too "distant" for me. The characters seem to have a nice characterization but they hardly ever have the chance to show it. Maybe I was just not enough focused, but I felt like the description of people and places was not sufficient. The ending was just the saddest one I've ever read :(
It was still worth reading anyway.

That made me realize what I love about another fantasy series I keep rereading since I'm 11. It's generally called the Belgariad, tough that's only a part of the series.
First part: The Belgariad, 5 books (400-500 pages each);
Second part: The Malloreon, 5 books (500-600 pages each);
then The Prequels, basically the autobiography of two of the main characters, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress (2 volumes each).
The basic scenario is not original (Find a magical artifact, use it to defeat Big Bad), but the way it is delivered is excellent. The author is David Eddings, if you're interested.

Holy shit, I've read those 3 times I think. I think it was mostly the characters that kept me interested.

Reading The Nine Lives of Chloe King.
Thinking "ABC Family probably batardized the hell out of this."

There's a lot of swearing, and almost sex.

currently reading Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451

it's basically about a futuristic world where books are illegal and everything is designed to keep people pop flyin' by not letting them think

I'm about to check "The Sun Also Rises" out from the library. It's for a Senior English project that I need to start on for next year. Anyone think that there is a better Hemingway novel out there?
