I am so glad that Capaldi is the doctor and not some young 20-something that the fangirls can fawn over.

I also hope that John Hurt will do things in the special that proves that he's worthy of being such an important secret.

I can't do it either.

And before you mention her parents: we don't know anything about them because of the cracks caused by the doctor, and then they were promptly never mentioned again

A lot of companions are underdeveloped. Since the beginning.
Tell me something about Susan, Ian, Barbara.
What about Rose? Her defining characteristic was having the hots for the 10th Doctor.

Donna is the only one I can think of off the top of my head where you know a lot about her. Why? Cause she had multiple episodes about her regular life getting ruined by martians.

Susan enjoys human music and culture, and is incredibly knowledgeable about the earth despite being a Time Lady herself.
I can't answer anything about Ian or Barbara because I can't get past how slow the first serials of Doctor Who are

Rose on the other hand, dropped out of school when she was 16 to move in with her then-boyfriend, and then eventually back in with Jackie up until the events of 2005. Her best friend's name is Shareen, and she also had a friend named Wilson whom she was entering the lottery with. Her dad got her mother's name wrong at their wedding, and later died in a hit and run accident when Rose was a baby.

Gymnastics, she got Bronze.

This is without looking anything up, by the way. the only thing I can think of for Amy is that she's a model in seasons 6-7.1

Of course, being a model is also something she achieved by being an attractive young woman--I'd say it's along the same lines as her being a kissogram. So there's still nothing about her that isn't about her sex.

I don't know if you're a big fan of Rose or something but all I can remember besides the thing with her father is "she wants the 10th" That's it. 3 or 4 seasons, going home multiple times, but the one thing that comes to mind at the name is that she wants to facebattle the Doctor.

Eh, not really, I much prefer Donna, though since all the other companions are either bad or mediocre, Rose ends up my third favorite.

It's partly because they have to use them once a series or pay a large fine to the family that owns the rights in order to bring them back later.

I dont like rose that much either. From her strange lisp, to her constant needyness towards the doctor its all ugh.

Martha tried too hard to gain the affections of the Doctor.

Donna however, i kind of liked her as a comapnion. SHe did stuff, she had sass, and we learned so much about her real life cuz so much happened on earth when she was a companion.

I've seen this mentioned loads of times, yet no one ever cites their source of information.

Oh goodie someone who thinks the same as me about this, Rose was the worst companion for me and admittedly at first it was due to Billy Piper playing her but then it did turn in to a dislike for Rose herself.

Loosing Donna was the saddest companion loss for me with Amy and Rory next, felt so bad for Donna as she'd saved the world in such a fantastic way only for her to be forced to forget it all and I can't imagine how heavy that weighs on the Doctors mind.
