Civil War?

Civil War?

Was this part of the comic or are they just riding the gravy train at this point?

It's not the 1860s American Civil War, if that's what you're confused about.

The Civil War event was kind of a big deal in the comics, yeah. Though I've heard that the movies will have a quite a bit of re-imagining so it won't be anything near the same story.

Ohhhh. That's what I immediately associated it with due to him being Captain AMERICA, but even then it didn't make sense.

I don't keep up with the comics as much. Is Civil War a new thing, or did it happen previously?

I think it started in 2006 and lasted for a few issues.

Super spoilers ahead.

The U.S. government tries to enact legislation forcing superheroes to reveal their identities and register as official peacekeepers. Several Marvel heroes take opposite sides in the conflict, Captain America leading the fight against the legislation and Iron Man leading the side supporting it. The event ended with Captain America being shot and killed.

As I said though, I think the movie's going to go in a different direction.

Do you think the movies will wear out their welcome any time soon? The last captain america movie was great, but sooner or later they'll make a stinker.

Captain America 1 was a stinker, Iron Man 2 was a stinker, Thor movies were both stinkers. They still make plenty of cheddar.

I disagree with all of the above.

Marvel movies are going to suck eventually, but they've got a plan for the next decade or so.

Well, Iron Man 2 was decent, I suppose.

Captain America 1 was excellent, but I do wish that many of the Howling Commandoes' victories over Hydra weren't glossed over in a montage.

Iron Man 2 was solid. The fight scene with the drones in the garden was one of my favorites in the Iron Man movies mainly because it's just Tony and Rhodie wrecking shit, and I enjoyed seeing Tony solve the puzzle that his dad left for him in the form of that diorama. I think that the scene with the kind with the Iron Man toys standing up to the drone was cheesy and should have been cut out.

I haven't seen Thor or it's sequel in a while. I'd need to re-watch them to give a real opinion on them.

I'm interested in Civil War, but Spider-Man was a heavy focal point of that story and they can't use him (unless Marvel and Sony actually reached a deal in the talks that were made public via the Sony leak) so I'm wondering how much it will change.

The worst movie of the MCU is Incredible Hulk. And it isn't really bad, just kinda mediocre. If the X-Men movies can keep going after Origins, if DC can still get people to watch their movies after Man of Steel, if Spiderman still puts butts in seats, we are in for the long haul.

You mean all those victories that weren't punching Nazis and Japs in the face?

After the initial rescue that Cap carried out, it seemed like he was put on assignment by the government to take down Hydra specifically.
