How appropriate if the Face Stealer met his demise at the hands of the Avatar in Water Tribe form.

Man, I've been waiting for Koh to show up again too, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it to happen this season. Mike and Brian have probably forgotten about the "we'll meet again" bit that Koh told Aang.

It would certainly fit the supposed theme of the season.

But they've been delving into more political shenanigans that are on par with last season. Now it just seems that the spirit world is more a subplot with bits like the giant fish spirit eating Korra thrown in because "Oh shit, when was the last time we did something with the spirit world?!"

At least in Aang's generation the whole bit about the firenation taking over was the primary plot, along with the first season of Korra to provide a means with which to develop herself. With this new season it seems they're just wedging all of this spirit world stuff in when they can. Which is strange because fixing the spirit world was supposed to be the main plot, not all of this controversy over her Dad and Uncle having a political feud.

Well, maybe we'll get past that once Wan is introduced. Then we can focus on spirit shenanigans.

well yes, but we'll get to veer away from ~FAMILY DRAMA~ when they're all like "before you can deal with that shit, you need to deal with this more important, but slightly less smelly shit, so that that shit doesn't turn this shit into a whole lot more shit." So we'll get a reprieve from the cliches.

Aang met Koh again after book two and before book three. It's possible that Korra meets Koh, but I'm not holding my breath either.

Goddammit, I knew Varrik was to good to be true. also he started getting suspicious as soon as he started alluding to manipulation.

YES GOOD

There's still a bunch of surface issues (can this relationship drama just reach a stable point for like an episode) but I'm still confident there's more to this season than originally thought. I loved Varrick before and wow am I liking this turn

Looking over this and last season, I'm thinking the big issue LoK deals with is that the seasons are like big movies, whereas AtLA was a lot more episodic. They both build up to something great (for the most part) in the season finale, but with the movie approach the character arcs move at a slower pace than the self-contained episodes and there's more room in between development, making characters feel like awful versions of themselves until a few episodes later. I mean it's definitely a mistake to backtrack Korra's personality for season 2 and keep focusing on relationship stuff that doesn't effect plot or character arcs, but I think overall this show would be improved with a netflix approach, watching a bunch of episodes together rather than separate them over weeks.

Just thinking aloud, I'm not quite sure what prompted that but I'm gonna share that thought anyway.

I think it would be cool if at some point in the future the mustache detectives and Beifong were like "yeah no shit it was Varrick Mako, we just didn't go shouting about it any place his spies might be"

That'd be great, I feel like the "ugh the guys supposed to be doing the job are idiots" trope is overplayed and Lin's a smart one.

That would be poor leadership, since at some point before the final bust, she'll want to him in to say "Look, we know, but his spies are everywhere. You seem to have leads, so go work on it, but dear God will you learn the fine art of subtlety before you get everyone killed, or worse, expelled?!"

Since the second time he did it, he proved that he wasn't going to stop, meaning not doing something proactive about it would have meant that he was still going to be out running his mouth in a fashion Lin didn't want him to. She should have also realized that playing the "angry black captain" wasn't going to work since he ignored that as well. Being an effective leader, she'd know to change up her technique since it wasn't going to work in the future.

Meaning such isn't the case, where they actually don't know, or they do, and Lin is a terrible Chief of Police for not knowing how to deal with her subordinate officers. Because at this point she's just getting pissy over Mako doing his job, and well (considering he did end up figuring it out, without any help from his superiors.)

My god, those were some daisies good episodes last night. Likable, well-written characters, a massive expansion of the mythos, and the most gorgeous visuals yet. Not to mention, they actually felt like a legit myth. They were beautiful and well-written, and they were by far the best episodes of the series so far.

There's one thing that bother me about those episodes though. It's said that the air benders learned their bending from the sky bison, fire from the dragons, earth from the badger moles, and water from the moon. But now it's lol no it was giant talking lion turtles you idiot. Which is like fine whatever, but that still doesn't explain why those animals (and celestial being?) can do those things or why fire bending and water bending rely so heavily on the sun and moon when it was just a gift bestowed upon the users' ancestors.

Unless this is one big shitty retcon, then WELP
