your only thoughts on the film are comparisons to another film

Saw Hercules, it was ok. I'd say

first half < iron man
second half > iron man

3D was alright too for once. There was a scene with a dagger flying towards the screen that got me for some reason. Curious to see how the Rock will perform as Black Adam.

While waiting for Gotg to start (loved it) they showed a trailer for dracula untold and I don't care if it's a piece of crap I really want to see it
EDIT I just read the movie's wikipedia page and apparently the vampire who turns Vladimir is none other than ROMAN EMPEROR CALIGULA and that makes me want to watch it even more

...that is the dumbest backstory for Dracula since he was Judas in Dracula 2000. Jeez.

Caligula, really? C'mon....

Of all the people from history to get a "misunderstood ruler chooses darkness to save his people" angle, they chose the guy who exemplifies the worst case of "absolute power corrupts absolutely"?

I mean...adult swim made a flash game about him!

Caligula's the one who turns Dracula, not Dracula himself.

Also, that "misunderstood ruler chooses darkness to save his people" angle is just one of several romanticized adaptations of Bram Stoker's Dracula. He was originally just an old, bored conqueror/monster.

I watched 300: Rise of an Empire the other day, I really enjoyed it. I think it enjoyed it more than the first one because the first 300's trailer was amazing while the movie was "Eh," whereas when I was watching this one I had lowered my expectations to reasonable levels. Also, Themistocles was way cooler than Leonidas.

Don't get me wrong, I like that angle. Movies that continually push a line between "good and bad" in my face are annoying as hell. I'm saying that Caligula is less "exalted hero" and more "this guy is clearly batshit insane". Making him the elder vampire makes a lot more sense, though from what I've learned of his history "guy who eventually lives as an immortal, undead hermit of darkness" doesn't seem to be the lifelong goal of someone whose favorite activity was "city wide butt orgy".
