Godzilla was loads of fun, though there were way too many moments where I looked at the screen and thought that they could've just kinda...stopped.

When they removed the nuclear device from the egg clutch, I'm guessing mom and pops muto were expecting to use that thing as some kind of yolklike nutrition for their babies. Lt. Kickass didn't really have to burn the eggclutch, there was most likely no way those eggs would've been able to develop successfully without their primary source of nutrition.
What's more, mom and pops muto wouldn't have known! It was only when Lt. Kickass burned out the clutch that momma muto was cued in to the fact that "Oh God, my babies, govm'nt came and took mah babies!" Godzilla was still hunting the both of them, but killing off their babies only put them into some survival level hyperdrive, shown in momma muto relentlessly going after the nuclear device + "the guy who just killed my babies!" out of spite.
Supposedly it's a thing that animals generally get more chill after they've had the kids evolution is constantly nagging at them to have.
Snape kills Dumbledore.

Now if I recall, both Mutous were curbstomping Godzilla, so I think that he blew up the eggs so that the mother would get rustled, intentionally giving Godzilla an opening to break free of the smaller dad.

I figured the eggs were doing the thing the male MUTO did before it hatched, pulsing really really quickly before stopping. Sgt. Kickass was there with his dad when the first MUTO started wrecking shit, so maybe the babbies were about to hatch and he remembered their tell?

I'd say all of them but that's not too helpful. I guess watch the first just for the set up, the second because it's based on the mini series 'god loves, man kills' and isn't too bad. Skip the 3rd one, all it has to offer is Kelsey Grammer as Beast and there was too little of him. I'd skip all the Wolverine movies except for maybe the one set in Japan (I haven't seen it so I can't actually advise on it). Then watch first class to set up for days of future past.

Though I hated first class because I found it to be mega sexist.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. 3 and Origins are getting the axe.

EDIT: Wow, those movies were really good. Now I'm 110% ready to see Days of Future Past!

It was also set in the 60s. Are you certain the parts that were sexist weren't just plot devices?

Dead certain. It's not like the scenes in Ironman where Harold 'pop flyin'' Hogan is being rude to Black Widow and then she turns the tables on him.

Mystique:Mystique's main motivation throughout the movie was getting the D. Even in the comics where they can't seem to decide what her motivations were, she's not known for giving a daisies about men. In fact it's hinted she was in a lesbian relationship with Destiny. Despite having the biggest female role in the movie, she spends most of the movie chasing after 3 different guys.

White Queen:In the comics she was essentially Shaw's business partner, the two of them plotted together to gain control of the hellfire club. They were not romantically involved. In the movie she has hardly any lines and is essentially Shaw's hot lackey. She easily falls for his smooth line despite having known him for a long time and being a powerful telepath on par with the professor. Because tell a woman she's pretty and you'll have her in the bag.

Moira:In the comics she's a renowned geneticist and the professor's long time friend and ally. In the movie she's a (CIA?) agent who, in her opening scene, is conveniently wearing sexy underwear while scoping out the hellfire club and sneaks her way in by stripping off. She does not have any significant plot points after that other than being the professor's cheerleader.

Angel:Now being a stripper in no way counts her out, she could have totally redeemed the other three. But she didn't. As a character she was pretty much filler. I think she's meant to be Pixie, but that's a newer character I don't know so well.

There's no plot point where the girls get picked on then turn the tables and show that they can keep up.

One last thing: Darwin: The only black dude on the team.... first to die. It's the 1960's, a perfect opportunity to draw the parallels of persecution and human rights. In the comics the mutants have become a major metaphor for that. Being hated for being different etcetera.
Nope.

Oh well at least we now have Profneto fanfics.

Darwin's death was stupid for other reasons as well. His power was adaptation to survive. He is bodaciously intended to be immortal, even being capable of shifting over to pure energy if that's what's required to live. He cannot be killed, especially not in a stupid way like that.

I always figured Darwin to have personal Biological manipulation over this rediculousness they did in the movie. "I adapt to survive!" followed by everything he did was pretty much just a show of blatent misunderstanding for how adaptation, or even Evolution works. It's weird, though, because in order to make any sort of Biological manipulation work the way he did (producing gills) he'd have to have that fundamental knowledge anyway. It was just bad...I flat out ignored him as any serious character due to how he was written.

As for the arguments on sexism, the only ones I can really see are Miora and Angel. Maybe this is just my misunderstanding of the characters as a whole compared to just how they are in the movie, but it seemed Mistique was thirsty for Xavier more than "I need a MAAAAAAAAN!" Her bit on not looking like her blue self didn't really come from wanting to date someone, she specifically had a thing for Xavier. She just wanted to "look normal" which is just delving more into what the moral of "mutant vs not mutant" delves into. She didn't really turn into the "femme fetale" who went after everyone's manhood until Magneto put it in her head, unless I'm getting the order of events mixed up.

As for White Queen: I always figured Shaw to be the foreground of the entire operation with White Queen being the quiet, powerful enforcer nobody expects to really be capable of doing anything worthwhile. You notice Shaw was doing everything up front. He was rallying troops, threatening officials, and just generally putting his face out there. White Queen was the one making everything happen in the background and ensuring Shaw knew everything that was happening before he could've hoped to on his own. From the outside, it looks like a boss -> lacky relationship, but it's similar to how the President is only technically higher up on the totem pole compared to congress.

So Edgar Wright is off of the Ant-Man movie now. Rumors are pinning the leave on higher-up decisions to completely re-write the movie from what Edgar and his co-writer wanted to do. daisies shame, too; he's probably one of the only people I could trust to make such a movie work.

Mystique: She went after the beast too. Her whole motivation was to feel beautiful. She wanted to be attractive to men. She stuck with the professor because he was the first to accept her powers, but she wanted to feel desirable too. Then comes beast, nerdy guy with freaky feet, easy target she thinks as she sits herself on his lap. Until he tries to cure them of their 'deformities' and she realises that it's not enough to be desired, she wants to be desired for who/what she really is. Then Magneto fulfils all those fantasies by giving her the D while she's blue. Winning himself a lifetime supporter. This wouldn't be the worst thing ever... It's a thing that women and men go through, but that's not Mystique. In the comics she's never been dependant on men. Magneto was out of the picture when she took over as leader of the brotherhood. She never served under him or anyone. Taking an accomplished villainess and making her a lackey for a villain seems pretty sexist to me.

White Queen: The thing is though, that she didn't feel like an equal, she didn't feel that powerful. Like I said, she had barely any lines, and seemed to be no match for anyone. The only person she mildly put a stop to was blocking Xavier. Even in her diamond form magneto was able to crack her with an steel/aluminium bed frame. The key scene that shows that she is below Shaw is when he first puts on the helmet and she tries to read his mind but can't. Her flirts with her and tells her he's thinking about how beautiful she is, she smiles because it's so sweet... until her tells her to get him a drink. Which she begrudgingly does. Oh so funny, get in the kitchen, Emma.

I didn't, refer to: reasons above. But I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.

One thing those movies do have is special effects. Pretty decent ones.

I'm still a little dissapointed that, and even with the new movie, nothing was made with the obvious Mistique + Azazel = Nighcrawler thing.

Even from the animated series/comics, wasn't one of the big twists supposed to be that Mistique was Nightcrawler's mother? And then you had the red guy with the tail bodaciously teleporting all over the daisies place. WHEN IS THAT GONNA BE ESTABLISHED GOD DAMNIT?!
