Went and saw Godzilla and it did not fail to impress.

It was okay. The monster fights were great when they bothered to show them. The first time they cut away was hilarious, then it just got annoying.

The movie's taking more from the original movie than any other. The grim one, the one with no monster fights, and the general opinion seems to be fairly positive. I'm so glad good sci fi's making a come back.

Godzilla was fun, really blew the other US movie out of the water. I went into the movie expecting something close to the original but with a modern twist, but suddenly wow there are monsters besides Godzilla! That made me expect more fightan, and the fact that they cut away two times when Godzilla and the monster started to fight was annoying. Still, it was pretty good. Godzilla is badass.

Mr. and Mrs. MUTO were so cute together!

Finally made it to the theater.
I've been waiting since 1998 for this moment.

So the Mutos were feeding off of radiation, but instead of the planet's radiation, they went for either radioactive creatures or man-made nuclear shit. Could they have been trying to weaken what's on the Earth, but not the Earth itself? Also, they got hooks for arms and red eyes. Gigan has hooks for arms and red eyes. Could the Space Hunter Nebula M have sent the Mutos to our planet to pave the way for their colonization?

They mentioned the the.earth used to be much more radioactive, I figured the radioactivity simply began to die off. They'd retreat underground and simply wait.
As for the Gigan bit, Gigan doesn't so much have hooks, as hooked blades, he was the first Kaiju to blood Godzilla if my memory serves correctly. I'd love to see Gigan, but his last redesign in Final Wars would be hard to top, and space invaders don't fit with the new tone very well.
Word is they'd go with Mothra should a sequel materialize, with parallels to the Joker of all things.


There was a chorus of "HOLY SHIT"s at my theatre.

When the Mutos facebattled, we got a bunch of "Awwww"s.

Also, some assholes started clapping when Godzilla did the thing the second time.

I also saw the new Godzilla and was incredibly unimpressed. The sparse cool moments didn't save the movie from it's bad plot and bland protagonist (the human one).

Heard the Godzilla reboot was good, is it?

Godzilla was loads of fun, though there were way too many moments where I looked at the screen and thought that they could've just kinda...stopped.

When they removed the nuclear device from the egg clutch, I'm guessing mom and pops muto were expecting to use that thing as some kind of yolklike nutrition for their babies. Lt. Kickass didn't really have to burn the eggclutch, there was most likely no way those eggs would've been able to develop successfully without their primary source of nutrition.
What's more, mom and pops muto wouldn't have known! It was only when Lt. Kickass burned out the clutch that momma muto was cued in to the fact that "Oh God, my babies, govm'nt came and took mah babies!" Godzilla was still hunting the both of them, but killing off their babies only put them into some survival level hyperdrive, shown in momma muto relentlessly going after the nuclear device + "the guy who just killed my babies!" out of spite.
Supposedly it's a thing that animals generally get more chill after they've had the kids evolution is constantly nagging at them to have.
