Setting up a series of kaiju movie nights in preparation for the new Godzilla. First up is Cloverfield, followed by Pacific Rim, and ending with Godzilla 2000.

Finally went to see Captain America.

Not much to say about the movie, but I will mention that people need to have their fucking vocal cords removed when entering a theater, ESPECIALLY children.

When I was little I really adored this movie called Monkeybone, and it was on netflix so I decided to revisit it, completely prepared for the fact it might be totally fucked up.

It's totally fucked up.

Bought the Criterion Collection edition of Royal Tenenbaums and it has a commentary by Wes Anderson himself that I am super excited to watch! My Moonrise Kingdom Blu-Ray doesn't have any commentary and it made me really sad so I'm super excited.

I saw the lego movie on the weekend. In cinemas, because Australia gets films even later than they get video games.

It was great. Benny the 1980's spaceman, Unikitty and Metalbeard were all amazing, and it's amazing how much mileage they got from all those blind jokes at Vitruvius's expense. Would recommend.

One of my friends has to watch I Love You, Man for a school assignment, so he made it a little movie party thing and some of our group came and watched it. I thought it was decently good. Not something I'm desperate to watch again, but if it's a buddy's favorite movie and oh gosh we HAVE to watch, I won't complain. Nothing really stood out about it to me. It was a pretty average comedy, and the plot was pretty cliche, but I did kind of like the running joke about role reversal. Instead of trying to get the girl and having a best friend for support, he's got the girl for support and is trying to get a best friend. That's kind of funny, and I'm glad they made clever jokes about it instead of beating the audience on the head with it constantly. The cinematography could have been better, as there were a few instances where they used odd jump cuts, and some of the jokes fell flat because they went on for WAY too freaking long.

This movie, holy shit this movie. Caught it once late at night several years ago and it instantly became one of my faves. I highly recommend the old PS2/Xbox brawler developed by Rockstar, takes place weeks before the movie and expands on all the other gangs and the individual Warriors. Shit's ace.

The thing I really liked about Grand Budapest is that (to me) it felt really self referential and he's able to joke about the kind of style he's cultivated. Like there were shots, just shots that were really funny to me because they felt like he was saying "Yes, this is a Wes Anderson movie, you got me man"

I really liked it, I think it's one of his best

So Amazing Spiderman 2 was pretty great. I did not expect what happened at the end with Gwen to be in THIS movie in particular even though I knew it would happen sometime. Kind of glad I didn't see it in 3D though because The one bit with Harry in the special projects lab and all the motherfucking strobe lights set me into an anxiety attack which has bodaciously never happened before so it may have even been worse in 3D but probably would have been fun all the same.
