I watched it, there was an adequate level of magic.

I've learned to stop listening to Disney/Pixar fangirly hype a long time ago. I hate when people try to make me watch something just because they're obsessed with it. It sets me up with unrealistic expectations.

I'd rather just watch the movie for what it is and form my own opinion. That said, I liked Frozen. It wasn't exactly revolutionary story-wise, but it was entertaining at least. The only thing I can think to change is Hans' character. instead of having him be dastardly plotting to steal the throne from the very beginning, I'd like to see him start off all giddy in love, then slowly turn bitter and resentful after having the responsibility of an ice-covered kingdom dumped on his back and his girlfriend gone missing.

Really now that I think about it, the whole movie was lacking in meaningful character development. Anna and I guess Kristoff are the only ones that really grew and changed, Elsa did as well but basically her entire story was told in a music montage, which just doesn't have the same gravity as seeing the story unfold in more detail.

A lot of people say that Tangled has a better story, and to that I say "nahhh, not really." Do y'all remember how Tangled ended? It pulled a Deus Ex Machina is how it ended. I feel as if Tangled was supposed to end on a much more bittersweet note, but then something akin to the following happened:

Bossman(or woman if you prefer): *Walks into WDAS with a test copy of Tangled.* "Would any of you mind telling me what this is?"
Employee: "Uh, it's Tangled, sir. The movie we just finished working on."
Bossman: "Finished!? Then why the hell does the Eugene Whatshisname die?"
Employee: "Well, we thought that Eugene sacrificing himself for Rapunzel's future was a good addition to the story is all."
Bossman: "Well you better start thinking about your future here at this company, or lack of it at this rate. See, every movie we make has to have franchise potential."
Employee: "Franchise potential? But the fairytale of Rapunzel doesn't have any sequels, I don't think..."
Bossman: "Tangled will! I can see it now: Tangled Ever After! A Thousand Years Tangled! Tangled 'til the End of Time! You get me?"
Employee: "No- not really, sir, what do you want us to do?"
Bossman: "Give the movie a pop flyin' ending."
Employee: "You honestly can't expect us to-"
Bossman: "You know, I hear DreamWorks is hiring people to work on 'Shrek Chive.' It's like the number five, but it's chive."
Employee: "Okayokayokay, fine we'll do it. I guess we'll uh, just make it to where her tears are magical, so when she's crying over her boyfriend's dead body, the tears bring him back to life." *Everyone besides Bossman groans.* Yes, yes, I am aware that her mother died because the magic went away. And I am also aware that the mother's death scene took months to animate. So maybe we can just fit in both of these scenes and nobody will notice that they contradict one another."
Bossman: "Perfect! Have a promotion!"

Frozen handled its miracle at the end much more effectively.

Eh, I think the characters mean more to me than the story. Also the "true love fixes everything" got old even in the Disney Golden Age.

Like, when I watch the older Disney movies I find that a lot of plot stuff is just as unbelievable as the movies today, just told differently.

I told the group of folk I saw it with pretty much exactly this when we got out, and they all brushed me off just because "oh, it's just a kids' movie, it doesn't matter". It's nice to see someone else thought what I did. I think I speculated that they pulled the switchflip move because they were told "I don't care how you do it, fit it into X time", and that they didn't think they could do Elsa justice throughout so they crowbarred it to follow Anna.

Recently tried to watch The Avengers because I saw some gifs that presented Captain America in a sort of awkwardly adorable fashion, lost interest barely any time into the movie and stopped. I then figured out that Thor's actor - who I kept complaining didn't look Thor-ish enough - also played a major role in my recent obsession, Rush. I felt horribly dirty after that. Was not a good moment.

Rush is amazing, by the way. I'm aware that came out a while back and people probably talked about it already, but hey. My opinion. Awesome movie.

Just rewatched Episode 3. At the end of the movie, there's a shot of Padme giving birth to her children, then it cuts away to Anakin getting a bunch of prosthetics and questionable treatment for his third-degree burns. Is that as painful as childbirth? Do they mean to imply that getting your limbs chopped off and then set on fire is comparable? daisies, women have it rough.
Also, that Senator Organa guy. Is he the King of Alderaan as well as its senator? 'Cause Leia's a princess...
Also, unrelated, if Naboo's core is a bunch of water, does that make it immune to the Death Star?

The Galactic Senate operates more like the United Nations than a single entity. Each planet has its own government, in Alderaan's case a constitutional monarchy, and only has diplomatic senators to represent their interests in the Republic as a whole.

I rewatched Wreck-It Ralph the other day and I still can't believe that such a talented guy like John C. Reilly can also make the conscious decision to be in such utter shit like Tim and Eric and Check It Out.

It's almost as though his acting career isn't just defined by whatever he's in that you don't like.
