I saw Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 at a discount theater with some friends today. It was better than I was expecting, but I still have the same problem with this one that I had with the first one: I HATE the stylistic choices used for the animation. Every character moves like they're made of rubber, stuff jumps around a lot, characters do motions that have no purpose except to try to be funny, and facial expressions are WAY too exaggerated. It really takes me out of the movie. That being said, at least it was brightly colored and interesting to look at for the most part. And I like the designs of a lot of the food animals.

One thing that also bugged me is they never addressed what happened to the people from the island. I guess they....just don't get to go back home? It was such a big plot point introduced at the beginning of the movie and it would have been so easy to resolve it, but they just.....didn't.

I'm all hype for Song of the Sea when it comes out.

I always assumed that they just did exactly what the main characters did and had to move to a new city and start over. I thought it was more interesting that the villain was Steve Jobs.

It's pretty bad storytelling to introduce a conflict like that and then make the audience assume how it was resolved. And the villain really annoyed me because he wouldn't stop doing that wobbly thing with his arms for no reason.

I watched Ernest and Celestine in its original French and it is SO PRECIOUS, so far it's my favorite animated film of the year

But then again I haven't seen Wind Rises yet

Why would Palpatine commission a clone army of humans? Aliens are clearly superior to humans.

In terms of the Star Wars universe, the clones are modeled after Jango Fett, who isn't human, he's Mandalorian. The Mandalorians are extremely capable fighters, known for being able to face even Jedi and win. As for why clones were introduced in the first place, the Clone Wars were briefly mentioned in Episode IV, and I suppose George Lucas thought it would be an interesting plot point.

I thought Mandalorians were just Space Spartans though, but like, anyone can be one.

Ah, OK, I looked this up and you're right. Mandalorians aren't a species, but a group. But my point still stands that they are very capable fighters. I also remember that Jango was the last of them.

Palpatine/Darth Sidious is a human supremacist. That's why all the imperial troops in the original saga were human.
