Ooh, interesting. So Sollux's refusal to play the game is what makes Karkat run the code in the first place, which runs the curse, which I'm assuming is also what makes them fail in the end. The losing of the game is also what made Sollux refuse.

I don't think you can blame him. It's a catch twenty two situation. If he creates, installs and plays the game, he will be playing a part in the destruction of his world, yet if he DOESN'T play, the world will inevitably be destroyed anyway.

I'd be pretty pissy were I in his shoes.

If he did play, then Karkat wouldn't have ever gotten angry and run the program, giving them at least a chance to win the game without a curse dooming them.
