So I'm a little disappointed in Pacific Rim, the internet hyped up all the girl power and poc power.
Also Newt got the most interesting character arc in my opinion, everyone else felt flat/forced.

I did not realize how triggering Perfect Blue would be.

I mean its full of gore and murder and rape and I did not see this coming from the director of Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers.

I'm kind of afraid to watch the last 20 minutes and see if I'll have a massive anxiety attack from a real rape scene.

Not saying the movie is bad, its fantastic for being able to convey such extreme emotions.

that's why you were interested in it?

i feel like if you went into a movie primarily focused around killing giant monsters with giant robots for their portrayal of minorities then you may have your priorities mixed up

I went to it because it was a del toro movie. It can't be helped that I'd be disappointed after hearing the hype around other elements.
Besides, I don't have to give a crap about minorities to be disappointed in the lack of character development.

And the idea that a giant robot/monster movie isn't supposed appeal to non white/non Americans/non male is absurd when the movie is an homage to JAPANESE genres and touts a Japanese female protagonist.

Look, I still think it attempted to live up to a higher standard than say... Transformers. But I don't think it really hit the mark. To be honest it didn't feel like a monster movie or a giant robot movie. It felt like independence day. I think if he had narrowed the focus down to a few of the pilots instead of the whole ensemble cast that might have helped.

Anyone seen The World's End? Cause if not, go do that, it's fantastic.

Eh, I thought "The Curse of the Black Pearl" was okay on its own.

Yes but no. This is Simon Pegg time, no room for no Johnny Depps.

My brothers and a couple friends marathoned the entire Blood & Cornetto Trilogy.
Totally worth it.
I'm not sure which I would rate best, particularly since I've only seen Hot Fuzz and World's End once, and those movies are full of rewatch bonuses.

I've yet to figure that out myself for that exact same reason. That and The World's End is just so different from the other two, it took me a bit of time to get adjusted to that.

The fights though, awwww they're off the fucking chain

My friend might be letting me borrow Jurassic Park so I can stop being a pathetic human being and actually see this movie.

It's one of my favorite movies, but don't expect too much, just watch it for the dinosaurs and famous lines you've probably heard a dozen times before, y'hear?

Two hours of "oh god why" that feels like four hours of "oh god why".
They promise you comedy.
Oh, there are laughs for the first, say, twenty minutes. But then it just turns into gruesome, bad-guys-do-bad-shit stuff.

I wish to unwatch it.
